I've been away from the Fallen London game for a good half a year now, and logged back in to find my character had Unaccountably Peckish 10. I'd done nothing,as far as I know, to trigger this, and now it's making black cards appear in my queue. Is it due to inactivity, or a bug? How do I take it down?

There have been at least two instances when TtH gave Unaccountably Peckish by mistake. And if you have one point of it when TtH comes, you get another one... I've never had to get rid of more than a couple of points of it in the past, but eating rubbery lumps at the Labyrinth (or chestnuts on the black ace) does it at lower levels. Since the peckish from TtH was originally a bug, though, I would think it's worth contacting support.

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I came back after a break of a few months. I emailed support@failbettergames.com. Since the increase was caused by a bug, they reset UP to zero. So no more of those scary black cards, for now.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I have recently gotten unaccountably peckish (1) twice this week and I don't think I've taken any actions that provide UP. I used Rubbery Lumps each time, but I can't figure out where the UP is coming from. Anyone else seeing this?

There is at least one option on the Feast of the Rose! card that gives two points of it. Happened to me this week. Maybe that happened without your noticing.

If you took the Feast option to eat sweets and they turned out not to be so sweet, that gives you two points of UP. (Conversely, the good outcome of that option takes it away.)

IF your UP is high, you could always hold out for KNAVE OF REGRETS or KNIGHT OF FEASTS, and then take the option which ends your search for the Name. Doing so will wipe out your UP along with your SMEN. edited by Daedalus_Falk on 2/17/2018

For I was hungry, and you gave me rats. I was thirsty, and you gave me rats. I was naked, and you gave me rats. The rodents were gathered together, the cats slept in the Sun’s blindness, and the rats rose like the Moon, in the light at the edge of the cheese.

Yes, I had to do that during this Feast--with a character that had had Freed from the Name at +8! I was a bit alarmed that the "game" was trying to suck me into SMEN, despite my resolution not to play that path with my current character.

But a reckoning will not be postponed indefinitely. Heed the whispers from the well!
