Why is EVERYTHING locked on a hard-luck roll for no reason?
Why do I have to go through an 11 action carousel to MAYBE make progress?
Why is buying reliable progress so expensive compared to how many items you get from the grinding storylet?
Why are there not even items to get from going through the carousel except 65 Prayers for 11 actions?
Why is this so pointlessly TEDIOUS?
I want to get off the King with a Hundred Hearts' wild ride.

I got all the unique stuff there and found it entertaining and easy enough. I had a 5 card lodging though, so...
I know there's a hypothetically excellent money grind there but I wouldn't do that anyway, being so far away from london and requiring card draws.

There's various items you can get as a reward besides Maniac's Prayers, if you get the qualities high enough. Really though, if you find it frustrating, there's not much exclusive to Polythreme. A small amount of the Jack-of-Smiles case, a unique clothing item, and a short storyline letting you get a unique companion. You don't have to stay there if you don't want to.
