Point of 3-action "move into lodgings" branches?

If you click on an item in the "Lodgings" inventory section it presents you with a 3-action cost branch to move into that lodging. What exactly does this get you? So far as I can tell, merely owning a lodging gives you the opportunity cards associated with it.

They let you hold different numbers of cards in your hand. 3-5. Remote lodgings cost 5 to move into and block certain cards.

You mean the Lodgings you are currently in. There is a difference, as acquiring certain Lodgings automatically moves you into them.
