The original poster of the thread can mark posts as "best answer", which turns them light green. Its not really the best function.

I've always used Opportunism in Spite -- Confound the Constables. It's airs dependent, you want the lower range, around one to twenty-ish. If you keep track of Airs of London, you can head over there when appropriate if you're not interested in the other rewards (weasels!) I tend to have the airs in my profile for this and other storylets.

Is there a way to get the Overgoat other than just grinding the cash for it?

I have reached 77 SMEN and will head North after Hallowmas. However, I have 46 Fate sitting around. Which Fate Locked Exceptional Tale would you recommend that I take as a last huzzah.

If you haven't already done it, Lost in Reflections.

What's the best way to minimize the number of cards this story spawns (aside from giving in and handing over my soul)? Just snub them. Decline playing croquet with them, decline their gifts, brag at picnics, fail their expectations at dinner (admittedly more difficult) etcetera. Mechanically - just do everything to lower the 'Intimate' quality. You can get it to zero this way, and will be left alone then.
Even faster - get your soul stained. Just once. You'll only need them to notice once, and be rid of them forever. Although... I actually just mention this for... Hey, it's most efficient, innit? And completely painless, also. Totally. No hidden agenda there. Trust me. Why wouldn't you?

There's an option under courier's work in the spite. I think the text is more interesting.

What's the best way to grind MW, I'm trying to get five notability for a confession. My current strategy is using my free evenings for private dinner, then using all my actions for coffee, or if I get the society card.

As I delayed the visit to the Iron Republic, it seems I am forced to get that journal ASAP. Now, regarding menaces, what's the best thing to do? Go with high menaces or none?
If you're just there for the journal and not looking for a particular path through (say, for the Austere and Hedonism grinding loop), it shouldn't really matter much. Your menaces will likely be reset to specific value ranges regardless of what you entered with.

You will be able to join another club, actually, the whole point of leaving a club is usually to change it(and im pretty sure the game mentions this).
My question is if one can rejoin the same club after you have left it previously. I understand that you would be able to join a different one.
There is nothing stopping you from joining the same club as well.

The new discounted stories HAUNTING AT THE MARSH-HOUSE, ART OF MURDER or THE WALTZ THAT MOVED THE WORLD is any good?
Those ones seem to strike me as very dependent on the person playing . . .
I would hazard a guess that "Waltz" is more universally popular.
Personally, I enjoyed "Art" the most. "Haunting" was a close second (and I'm told the mechanics - which were confusing when I played - have an explanation now, which is a great addition and helps a lot). "Waltz" was okay, but . . . I disliked the final choice, because it felt like a 'false choice' to me, in the sense I was forced to help one person regardless of my feelings, so I couldn't tell the other person to get the heck out of dodge. They're all worth buying and playing, but what you think about them may vary according to taste.

A New Question. In considering selling off a great many Whispered Hints, I have stumbled upon the Cross-Market Conversion Scheme, or the 50:51 trick. If I make my Making Waves stat too high, what consequences shall that incur, if any? After you become a POSI, increasing your Notability consumes all of your Making Waves regardless of whether you have more than you need. So you run the risk of being sad that you're wasting it.
Seriously though, I'm pretty sure Making Waves is strictly a Good Thing. The Hallowmas storylet under Attract a Visitor is the first time I've seen something lock from too much MW, and even that is only locking you out of getting more MW.
You don't need to be so concerned with losing out from winning. There are a few storylets that lock out when your stats get too high, and one or two things (mostly menace reductions) that lock when your Making a Name tracker advances. Beyond that, Fallen London generally makes it pretty clear when you are making an irrevocably decision and you are not going to encounter something that becomes unavailable due to accidental progress. (There are of course stories that become inaccessible after you do them, but that's different.)

I'm trying to play the gift storyline but have become stuck because it says I have to have a correspondence plaque to proceed. (Going back and then forwards again doesn't seem to change this hurdle). Kind of annoying since I've never seen one in the game. From the looks of it I either need to wait for a card and good luck to get one or wait until I can access the university which I thought was weird as the requirements for the story didn't seem to specify particularly high stats.
Anyone who's played this know a way around this requirement or a surefire way to get the plaques easily? Or do I have to abandon the story until I am lucky enough to find one. Thanks.
