I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but the Failbetter twitter is releasing new access codes in celebration of Zubmariner. One per day until release, and only active for a short time. Link below.

To be fair, the access codes don't eat your actions either, and if nothing else the playerbase are vain and probably appreciate something they can put on a mantelpiece.

I'll take 3 rare items I otherwise don't have worth who-cares-what over 50E worth of rostygold or a couple cups of coffee any day of the week. Actions refresh all the time, but it is only rarely that one gets to add zee-bottom paperweights to their collection edited by John Moose on 10/7/2016

A previously fate locked item available for free, with significance towards the DLC? I have no complaints. edited by suinicide on 10/7/2016

This was expected, can't wait to see if we will get an unique item like what happened with SS access codes .

The book is the only item I have or know about with that particular stat boost, and it'll certainly prove massively useful out at Zee! I wasn't expecting an item like that in the least There's another book with the same title but a different edition that does the same thing, but with a watchful boost instead of dangerous.

They have now tweeted the correct links. ... I see there's still room for two more editions.

It was available in the charity event IIRC, probably somewhere else too since one person here mentioned it having a fate locked use too.
Edit:just saw Grenem's post, it's still possible it does have a use but it is unlikely. edited by The Master on 10/7/2016

I got one from the earlier Launch Codes but it would be nice if all the people who started playing Fallen London and Sunless Sea after that could get a copy of M. Demeaux's Advice for Captains: Commemorative Edition. It is a very useful thing to have.
New things that give a Sunless Sea bonus would be fun though.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Yeah, I don't think the fate-locked use exists, it's just a misunderstanding because of the way the wiki handles these things.
Thanks for letting me know the former source
