Any ideas why I'm not getting Professional Payment - or did the way to collect it change? All the old threads say it should be in my lodgings, but it's not there. Last week I got a "Time, the healer" message and there was nothing, I thought maybe that's because I switched profession in the middle of the week. This Monday I got a message again, I've been a ratcatcher for over a week and still there's nothing.

Having the profession when Time the Healer comes around should be enough to get the payment, regardless of where in London you are or how long you've had the profession. Maybe check that you do have the profession (having the Ratting Piece, and quality Profession: rat catcher in "Major lateral" of the Myself tab). If you do it does sound like a bug, in which case the good people of FBG will help at support@failbettergames.com

Wasn't that just the Disgraceful Spectacle thread? http://community.failbettergames.com/topic23229-a-disgraceful-spectacle.aspx

Seeking question, since that's all I ever seem to have. When going for Chains, does that send you to the storylet that increases your Criminal Record or just straight to jail, do not pass go, etc? It's amusing to be concerned about the usage of Ablution when the whole character will be thrown down a well, but damn if the solution isn't just the solution at times.

Straight to jail, do not pass go, do not lose $2000 etc. Ironically, this makes it a good way to go to jail if you need to for some reason. better than burning 321 levels hell, anyways. Thanks for the help, I must have derped pretty bad.

On the mobile app I have the option (via a pen button at the top right) to record to my journal the description section of storylets--not sure what it's called, but I mean the part before you pick an option. However, after I make my choice, I see no way to record the result. Which is unfortunate, since it's usually the result that I like to record. Am I missing something, or is journal functionality reduced on the app?

If nothing else you could get Expedition Supplies for your Hints. (Remember that you cannot have more than 100 Supplies.)

It's not a great grind, though. assuming 4 echoes whispered hints and 2 actions for three supplies and a map scrap, an expedition to blue heaven takes roughly 13 actions to gather supplies and 10 to finish it, in return for 55.53 [number from wiki that sounds ~right] - 25.4 echoes = 30.13/23 = 1.31 epa. It's not terrible, if you need the items, but it's not amazing epa either. Even after the signs and other bonuses, I doubt it'd compete with the affair of the box.

It's better than upconversion, sure. But upconversion is not the default option. The default option is to simply sell everything at the bazaar for zero actions and then spend the actions that would have been spent upconverting/expeditioning on an efficient grind.

Cryptic clue are (potentially) an example where selling them at the Bazaar is not the best way of monetizing because you can get a 2epa in Empire Adornments (provided the rare success is at 5%).

I don't necessarily need such high efficiency for Whispered Hints but that's the primary question - sell WH at the Bazaar or find some way of "investing" them efficiently

No, my calculation assumed genesis was doing buccaneering. 1 action to start, 2 to end, 7 to progress.

My mistake, sorry.

I'm personally quite fond of expeditions because you can get items that are otherwise hard to get (Airag, Parabola Linen, Night Whispers, etc.). The EPA are not terrible and I'm not sure EPA are all that important when it comes to rare items. It was just a suggestion, though.

I like to cash out on the deal with a devil, I haven't done the math but it feels lucrative, and also the lovely hellfarer quality.

Do we have a date for the beginning of Hallowmas yet?
