Thank you, guys! I don't have seeking/investigating options in Flit, I think I need Name whispered in darkness 6 for that? (I have it at 5 now) I need to do heists to raise it, right? I actually already have Notability 4, BDR gear of 14 and I'm 5 levels of Bohemian away from setting up a salon to grind waves if I need, which is why I even started to consider going for 3 tier profession. But I think you're right, it's easier to get lodgings first. also, I already have a route to Mahogany Hall, is Pygmalion grind worth it or i should ignore it for now? thanks again, sorry for a lot of questions.
Pygamlion doesn't provide anything special, but it is the best source of Brass and Glim in the game. Not that there is much of a demand for these currencies. They still pale in comparison to other late game grinding value wise.

How do I get "Embroiled in the wars of Illusion"? I have "Survivor of the affair of the box" where I sold it long ago, I think, does it lock me out? And if I just recently made POSI, what's better to get first - 4-cards address or 3-tier profession?
EitWoI - just grind investigating and seeking in flit, it's gained on rare successes. Not sure if it's on all actions that grant seeking/investigating there, but I think I can confirm it on the first and last ones (i.e. not the middle one). After a few of those you unlock the storylet that increases it enough to unlock work with bats+cats. Those will unlock the next step. Then you need to buy access to Mahogany hall (using "Open a way to other parts of the City" in your lodgings). Then do the things you can do in Mahogany hall.
One of the things that will happen in Mahogany hall is continuation of the box story. It's indepenent of the illusionary wars, even.
I think getting 4card address is much easier/cheaper/faster than 3-tier proffession. Proffesion requires notability, which builds on all the grinds that give extended inventory with +BDR, and buying many expensive equipments. 4card address is just a few days particularly thieving in flit.

No, it does not lock you out. You can get "Embroiled in the wars of Illusion" in the Flit by getting rare success (not very rare really) on several "seeking..." and "investigating..."-related storylets. Check wiki for specifics.
Depends on your current lodgings and profession - I'd say lodgings, as high-tier lodgings provide opportunity cards of high value. And you getting a profession upgrade is not something you can (well, you can, but shouldn't) rush - you need to get "An unsigned message" card with Notability 5+ (or get Notability to 12 and force draw it).

You can get a point of Favourable Circumstances in your lodgings (under write letters) for seven Notability. Then you use it to "Await an Unsigned Letter". Five more Notability is needed to upgrade profession. Or you can start with 8 Not. (to have at least 1 Not. after you ecxhange it for Favourable Circumstance) and then rebuild it to 5.

That's under Write letters in your Lodgings If you have a Favourable Circumstance you can force draw some cards. You get a FC by either spending 7 Notability or 8 Fate. So 7 Notability and the 5 you need to upgrade your profession is 12 Notability.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

The closest thing I've heard was "probably not by friday." That was this week.

Quick Ambition question: I have Nemesis 38 for context and the next step shows that a high SoTC level lessens what I need to do. Is it possible to clear it at SoTC 1 or do I need to go through all content at the University and raise SoTC first?
There's a step in there where you have to pay a number of items and having a higher SoTC reduces that number (although it never eliminates it). Pausing to raise SoTC a bit might be helpful but there's no requirement.

I'm slowly working my way up to a vial of masters blood. Do I want to become a correspondent right away, now that my renown is high enough? Or am I better off staying an author for the wine cellars?
In my experience, Author gives more practically useful items while Correspondent gives a higher total echo value and has a stronger profession item. If you still have use for the items Author is giving you and don't need the extra Watchful/Persuasive boost I'd say wait.

Is it possible to collect all four items in the Benefactor storyline without Fate? I managed to get both the bowler hat and shoes without it, though I don't recall how I managed to get the second one on top of the first.
