It's time-consuming, but Hunter's Keep is supposed to get you to eleven. Then you spend a month getting Restitution for the Drowned Man on Marsh-Mired, and that's your twelve.

And never, ever, do anything for an Urchin.

edit: I've just run the Hunter's Keep carousel, and it says it won't raise melancholy past nine now, which is of no use if you already ground up to ten in teh Festival like I did. At present I know of three options: fate, several months of the Restitution card and only that card for your Marsh-Mired (and heaven help you if you decrease the quality by accident) or stuff it and go raise Heartless to seven instead, which is much simpler. You can change the question later on.

I was going to Grieve but even for Seeking this seems pettifogging.

I know this is a lore question but I dont want to make a whole thread about this.

"Your captain won't look you in the eyes. "The Deconstruction," she whispers. "It took everything we had. It gave us this." She holds out a bundle of watchful mechanisms."

this happens when you sponsor a trading voyage to the farthest reaches of the zee, and I have no idea what this is supposed to mean...does anyone else?

They zailed to a place called the Deconstruction and it took everything and gave them some clockwork. I think the Deconstruction was supposed to be a location in Sunless Sea, but it was never implemented.

If you like to throw your wine in the trash, warming your tears of the Bazaar can give you melancholy up to 15 but...well...its really expensive.

Being a pirate can get it up pretty easily, just remember that there are 2 cards on the zee for this, one that increases ruthless, and one that increases heartless.

The Sedan Chair and zailing options are both after you get to POSI.

Anyone can use the Rubbery card - Slime and Amber; Lure the creature into a quiet alley...and end its miserable rubbery existence. That will take your Heartless to 10 but lowers your Magnanimous.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.

No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

I vaguely remember somewhere that when the Bazaar took over London the Masters made the Pound equal to a penny which in turn results in an Echo being worth 100 Pounds.

I can't seem to find that snippet anymore though so I'm not sure if I read something wrong or misremembered.

well, it sounds plausible- i mean, boat rentals for ten pennies is... suspiciously cheap, if it's london ratios. I mean, time is weird here, but... that still seems odd.

Ah. So, Counting the Days is one of the few places I'd recommend going straight to the Wiki.

There are location storylet options you can use to grind all the way up to 14 if you so choose. However, these are slower than the cards.

For getting that first point, head to Wolfstack Docks and Dice for secrets and coins. This unlocks for most Closest to: Factions except Urchins, who have their own storylet in the Flit.

Note that you can only do this if you've been kicked out of the University!

Tis a shame I won't ever be able, even if I do eventually cough up the Fate. I'm not getting Alys kicked out of the University -- certainly not her style with where she would be in her timeline when the opportunity presented itself.

You don't have to actually get kicked out, though. You just need to finish the University storyline.

Breakwater is the hub for the next 3 Exceptional Stories. If you're not an EF all you can really do is go there and have a chat with the mourners.

Ah, so it's not substantial free content. I thought that was likely, but it's always good to check.

How could i possibly use Notability 3-5 except for upgrading 4-card home to 5-card during NY event and high-lvl professions? I'm a Doctor and i like it despite some drawbacks, not changing it unless FBG enables those Impossible! jobs.

If you missed an Exceptional Story does that effect the item trade-in at all? Or just delay it until you've completed the story?

It will just be delayed until you finish them, but probably you need to finish them to see the option. The one coming will be my first so I'm talking from read knowledge, not experience.
    From the last:

The Family Ties Season has finished. If you played the Frequently Deceased, the Seven-Day Reign and the Pentecost Predicament, you will have gained an item unique to each tale. You can trade in these items to unlock a short tale suffused with lore and adorned with an alluring reward.
This option opens today, and will remain permanently, so there is no need to trade in your items by any deadline.
The story can be found anywhere in London. Bask in it.
