When Eglantine gets ready for something, they really get ready. They've kitted up, hastily called in favours, gathered everything that might be useful, and now they are waiting, wrapped in a long cloak, under which is a neddy suit. That will help, they figure, with getting close, after which a liberal application of charm, bribery and outright violence should do the rest.

Nothing escapes the eyes of the urchins and criminals of London. Some of them have debts to or fondness for Elias Lowe. Some of them are simply amenable to a hefty amount of payment. The web of watchers spreads wide already.

Siobhan is tense, but she will not falter. Eli matters too much to her for that, now, and so she is here, armed and ready to go, waiting with Eglantine for the rest of the hunters, so that they can set off.

They will find Elias Lowe, because they must. Hopefully, it's not too late.

Eglantine chips in, harshly, "Just take her eyes and be done with it. Leave her blind as her master if she won't tell us everything." Their grin is terrifying. "Mercy, innit? Then she won't see when her fingers get cut off too."

Siobhan has ducked aside to change into her habit, and now intervenes, taking the more benevolent role. "No, no, she'll tell us. No need to be cruel."

The Grizzled Neddy shrugs.

"Eh, how could I turn down an offer like that." The Grizzled Neddy stands and walks to the table. When the four pistols that were immediately raised are lowered, she puts a pin on the map. A surprisingly short distance from the rookery, ironically. Near Stonymonk.

"Sorry, had to get outta ta binds. If I die wit me hands behind me back, I lose a bet. Righ' 'ere. Bitta tight squeeze but it'll take ye to the Ceiling Academy, or anywhere else ye need between here and Polythreme."

She turns back to Vavakx. "Well, don't make it too dramatic. Just get it over wit', I don't wanna be a chore for ta maids."

"Right. Now I am tempted to start cutting off fingers," they say mildly. "But only tempted. I have a better option for you. I've a bottle of something that'll blank our merry band from your mind. You tell us enough, you get a drink, and a chance to go home with no more than an I've-been-drinking blank spot in your memory."

...Well. That explains her ability to laugh off any threat that was thrown her way, and the nastiness in the Basalt Gallery. Eglantine chews thoughtfully on their bottom lip, eyeing the neddy. They know her face now, they can find her again at need, and she will not know theirs.

Yet if she's so important, can they afford to let her live? Eglantine considers it, before finally producing some bottled oblivion. The woman will not be conscious or able to do much for Passionario in the immediate future, and that will have to be enough.

"Fair's fair then. Drink up."

Has the dirigible ever held such an odd assortment as go to it now? Nuns and deacon and gaoler, all false, bearing food and candles to take up to the prison. And a Clay Woman. She, at least, is not false. It's really hard to fake one of those.

Everyone knows you can't escape New Newgate. That might be why there's so little suspicion for the party that's come to visit.

And on the street, the hunt continues. The more respectable-seeming of the hunters linger around the Parthenaeum. Others... the urchins out looking have had their work cut out for them, but with so many clever eyes a-hunting, even the Fist's servants cannot hide forever.

(One is not hiding. One is slumbering in the alley beside a tavern, and will remember none of this when she finally wakes.)

There are dangerous fellows out there. But it's a small army assembled to contest them, full of those whose anger and determination run deeper even than the Unterzee. The net tightens.

Eglantine turns to a small, discomforting figure in oversized clothes. It's either a very creepy urchin or a very small devil, but either way, there's an alert expression meeting Eglantine's gaze. "You know the sorts of things we'll need. Will you get them?"

The Imp nods and hurries off.

((Man, if they succeed, are we going to have a rock-paper-scissors tournament over Eli or something? XD Because it sure looks like half this search party has a thing for him.))

Eglantine looks to Maria, and smiles as reassuringly as they can under the circumstances. "You've a lead, then. Take... Drake, is it? here as far as you got? He can help find the way from wherever they were when you lost them. It'll be valuable knowledge, and you'll be watched from the Flit, by those who can communicate your discoveries to the rest of us." They make their suggestion politely.

Siobhan eyes the miscellany of searchers the Game-Carver brought. "Whatever knowledge they have, let's have it. Let's plan this." She longs to simply charge in with a blazing pistol, but that's no plan worth anything. Better to restrain her urgency a little, get this plan put together.

Eglantine, meanwhile, is passing out shriek bombs, a couple to everyone. "I hope you don't have to use these, but if you encounter the Fist of the Bazaar, he relies on his hearing, having no sight. These might buy you a few precious moments when you need them most, I think."

Eglantine beckons to an urchin. "Jemmy. You know where they'll have gone, I think. Go get them. Hurry." They pause a moment, and them amplify this urging with a small jingling bag, to encourage maximum speed.

Jemmy sniffs, wipes his nose on his ragged sleeve, and races off. He'll head for the Flit, get up where he knows the routes, and find the Flowerdene Prodigies.

(ooc: sorry, guys. I'll put together a wrap-up, and hope that if I'm ever in future running a thread I'll do a much better job for everyone.)

"...Make that one nun overcome, and one deacon driven to madness and death."

Nobody can blame the shaken group of nuns for leaving, under the circumstances. Especially since the prison gets to keep the candles. And so, a band of nuns floats away in a dirigible, back to London, to shed their disguises and share the good news with the comrades left behind.

Their work is not over, but it never is, in a city like this. The brave, the wise, the stealthy and the cunning have come together, and taken back what was stolen from them. In scholar-knowledge and irrigo inks is the salvation of Elias Lowe written, to reclaim his skin from its dreadful brand.

As to how well he heals on the inside... that is the heart of other stories. Who can say? Only Elias Lowe.

What matters, perhaps, is that now he has his chance to say it at all.

Eglantine feels the rush again, of plans crystallising in their mind, and grins at Ezekiel. "We'll dress you as a gaoler. It'll hide your face entirely, and you can walk right past the constables without needing to fight them, or even talk to them. You climb out of the crate, and then you're just one more gaoler in the place, shuffling along about your business." They remember the gaolers well, from their own time in New Newgate. This is a role Ezekiel can surely play.

Dahlia clears her throat, and sweeps her cloak aside. It's not armor underneath, but a mirror, as broad and long as her torso, buckled in place by leather straps. She taps the glass with a fingertip, and it seems to ripple, like liquid silver, before going solid again. This is why Lamia said 'try to get Dahlia into a tactical position.'

"I don't understand it," Dahlia admits. "But if I can get it there intact Miss L said it could serve as a quick exit."

(OOC: I forgot that a post I wrote about Lamia leaving earlier didn't go through. Anyway, Lamia left a while back, after she said she'd 'hang back.')
