EDIT: Current candidates list linked here to try and help avoid conflicts where possible: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1fD5hu26kM0zR9JdN1qdZh7fHG0nblSEeM46m8Y8nkGw/edit?usp=sharing

Going North involves giving up many things, but one of the few things you can take with you is company, or more specifically companions. I've always said community is the greatest treasure of all, and have spent my fallen london career collecting 86 unique companions. So, my question for you all is who wants to come NORTH with me, forever, as one of my companions?
That's right, I'm offering you all the chance to have one of my companions named after you which I will then take with me to the end of the game. Will you be my shimmering songster? Or are you more of a parabolan kitten? The choices are yours my friend. And here's how:

  1. Consult the list of unclaimed companions in the spoiler below, and choose one companion.
  2. Post the name of the companion type along with the name you wish to give it (preferably but not necessarily your own character name)
  3. I will review the posts below every few days (schedule pending on how busy this thread gets) and select some names.
  4. If a name is selected for a companion, it will be marked as " - Name Reserved" on the list below. Final selections will not be revealed until the end of this thread.
  5. I'll be consulting other community sources for names too, such as tumblr, the IRC, etc. So this will be a selection process and not necessarily a first come first serve arrangement.
  6. I may, at my choosing, select more than one name for a companion and combine them into one long name, character limit permitting. I might alternatively select no names. At the end of the day, these are companions of my choosing with whom I will be with forever.
  7. This process will continue until either we run out of time and I am North, or we run out of Companions to name.
Sound good? Alright then, without further ado here is my list of companions in the order they appear in my inventory:

Name the Bengal Tigress Alexis Kennedy, and run that name confusion joke into the ground, all the way to the bitter end (then tweet to him about it)

    Is pain a distant memory?

    Guilt?

    Goodbye Seeker
    And good riddance
    Leave us all
    In peace

    Your rantings
    Gave us nightmares
    And your antics
    Wouldn't cease

    Goodbye Seeker
    We won't miss you
    Because
    You've been forgot

    Your lodgings?
    They're just ruins
    Your past and future?
    Lost

    Goodbye Seeker
    There'll be no service
    No ringing
    Of a bell

    Instead
    We'll take your memories
    And throw them
    In a well

That is a really cool idea! (Hilariously, I am actually planning to sell as many companions as I could rather than take them with me.)

You should name your favorite Samwise Gamgee, because you're glad it's with you, here at the end of all things. =>

. . . have you just been not playing the New Arrival cards, to be A New Arrival 5 but also POSI?

I never allowed my alts to play any new arrival or free of surface ties cards. This is because I wanted to be able to prove that I never used them for the tournament of lilies. There are four surface tie cards that unlock as you gain stats over 12, so it just barely works out once you have a five card lodgings haha. I went to great lengths to get those seven rosettes legit.

Okay, I made a google doc of the current candidates list so that its a bit easier to track conflicts. All ravens, most cats, devils, and the ghostly presence are very popular choices, so just an FYI about that. Names on this list are in no particular order or rather, just in the order that I first saw them.

@Mairead: Ah, that makes sense, I hadn't considered that. Yeah, there really are so few named characters in FL, the ones that actually get names do stand out. And, may I say, you have excellent taste in girlfriends, if ever Stone stops loving my Abs so much that She allows me to scar, I so want to make that pair a trio. They Are the Most Interesting Women in the Neath -- they don't always drink, oh who are we kidding, of Course they always drink, but they do only drink the '44.

Mrs. Brite: If it is helpful in resolving Mr. Forms, Gazzien, and myself please feel free to give me the Cat's Chiefest Claw.

The bold kitten piece of my character was born on the Isle of Cats, and my Abs is deeply tied to the Isle (and has run much Red Honey for the Captivating Princess over time). There's also the glittering sharpness, and the gender ambiguity.

So I'll happily yield to the other two if it makes things smoother, besides, Isery is a hottie. (even if I'm personally more into Zaira, she's so horrific, it's glorious)

    {edit: And, seriously, no one has claimed Lettice?!? She's . . . just wow, yeah, that's it, she's totally wow.}

(I had already decided to go North once I have exactly seven Bats with Attitude, and not before. I already have 5. edit: 6! this may actually happen!)

I realize someone has already asked for the bats, so if you would really rather have spiders named after you, the 7 Fairly Tame Sorrow-Spider option would be fine too.

I will follow you North in time Mrs. Brite. This is a truth.

Until then, if it would please you to remember me, I beg you, recall of me either that I am of Parabola, or that a part of me was born on the Isle of Cats.

Such a tragedy as Mrs Brite heading North ought to be immortalized in theatre. As such, I ask that you name your Hollow-Eyed Tragedian after me, Mr. Mercutio.

    --
    Mr. Mercutio
    Immortal. Rich. Only moderately insane.

Want a taste of immortality? Reach out to me in-game to ask for a sip of Hesperidean Cider. Please follow Ocelot's guide to asking here.

New to our dark city? Send me a message in-game and I will respond when I can with a welcome gift!

I welcome most social actions, so feel free to send them to me. Just please don't ask me to Loiter Suspiciously or to help with the Affluent Photographer. I have disavowed all knowledge of her.

I request one of your Ravens, if I may. A watchful one if he's available!

Edit: since many have asked after the Ravens, I would welcome being immortalized as either the Complaisant Frost-Moth or a Stiff Backed Young Lady.

    What a fun idea!

I would be honored to be your Shimmering Songster, as a singer and composer who is very fond of honey. 'Its buzz is zweeter than honey'... Like a cider dream!

Or, if that is requested by someone you know better, I believe there is also much of Appolonia in one of your Fairly Tame Sorrow Spiders, or even if it is still available, the Luxuriantly Coiffed Sorrow Spider. She is fond of spiders. And adores her luxuriantly coiffed one. And, truthfully, 'fairly tame' and 'luxuriantly coiffed' are pretty good descriptions for her.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.

No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.
