Investigate a Campaign + Engaged in a case

Looking at the Election actions, one of them involves raising Detectives Progress. But I'm unable to start it because I'm already on a case.
Given that I haven't touched that kind of content in quite some time, what is the best way to find out what I was investigating? and where to go to finish or abandon it, depending on my existing progress?
