I went from Watchful 148 to 18 in three clicks. I don't know why I thought it was a good idea. Don't do it. Put it on a list of things you may do if you finish everything else, and then never do it.

Well, I might've accidentally started already (muffled laughter that breaks into crying) but, I did see the warnings. I chose to go on because I want to know what happens. I'm not doing this out of any need for a happy ending, I just want to know who Mr. Eaten is. The only concern I have is for my ambition, for I am also seeking to kill the Vake. My next order of business would be to become a person of some importance (via my dangerous quality, which is about 97 with my items in use) and then purchase a ship. After that I guess I'll continue on to search for the Vake.
Maybe after I've gotten that done I'll seek out Mr. Eaten, but for now I'll try to ignore the black candle card at the top of my Lodgings.
I have dug my grave, and I refuse not to rot in it.

As the lead Seeker I can only say this: I'm watching four years of work burn before my eyes and I regret every click, but I can't stop myself. It's a beautiful horror and you should save yourself. SAVE YOURSELF! SAVE YOURSELF!

In return, it gives 2 levels seeking. half the time, it consumes the item and gives a surmise, half the time it doesn't. I did not know this (about the 50% chance of not losing the items). Is this confirmed? The wiki does not have details on this option (and other advanced ones) yet. This is false. There are two possible results for lighting a taper; one was initially bugged and didn't consume the items. This was confirmed with support and the items manually removed.

If you Seek, you will be unable to complete your Ambition. I'm sure Mr Eaten would be quite happy with you killing the Vake. Don't do anything you don't need to. (Also you need all four stats at 100 to become a PoSI, though counting item bonuses and not at the same time.)

I stand corrected, then. Explanation edited accordingly.

Actually I'm mentally ill and I usually forget needs such as eating or drinking until I'm doing it.

You are talking about a group of players in which a few actually paid Fate to have their characters permanently deleted and then reported a bug when the deletion didn't happen... Given that the Grand Hunt has a detailed wiki page, I can't help but suspect that once it was first encountered, others immediately went to the Forgotten Quarter just to find out how horrible it would be.
Seeking is about being left in a room with a big red button labelled "Danger! Don't press this button!" and then pressing it anyway...

Seeking is hearing such a button exists somewhere, so you sell your house to fund your travels and kill your spouse on your way out of the door for good measure.

Seeking is an easy to walk around minefield that you decide to find the safe path through (never around) by exploding all the mines personally on your own body and then gently replacing them so that others can have fun finding them too. edited by NiteBrite on 6/17/2016

@Cinnabar: Seeking is about being in such a room and not being able to press the button because the queue is too long.
