This is not the first thread of its kind, but I don't think we've had an actual poll before? Anyway, I'm going to bump this regularly for a time in order to gather as many votes as possible.
I know the fact that you can vote only once makes it a very hard choice - but that could also make the end result quite significant if there should be a clear winner ("Hey Failbetter, we REALLY want this!"). That's also the reason why I didn't add even more options - 10 might be too many already.
I did not include "Bring back SMEN!" and "more marriage-related stuff, please" on purpose, since everyone's clamouring about those all the time anyway. These are just 10 unfinished storylines that have been around for a long long time, and I'd love to see a meaningful update to any of them!
Also, I didn't include any Fate-locked stories. I may make a similar poll for those...

I voted for the Watchmaker's Daughter/Broken Toys, mainly because that Albino Rat has been despondent for so long I feel like I should really help her find a support group or somethting.

I went with the Pianist and Spirifer because I feel like that's the most... forgotten. It's the one that everyone plays, gets to an inconclusive ending, and then just kind of ignores. To me that's sort of more notable than the stuff where there's just a note saying it'll be continued someday.

I voted dreams because I think if the dreams were finished (if that's even a thing that can happen), they would add the most to Fallen London, not to mention the great CHUNK of lore we'd get. Players that haven't locked themselves out of drawing dream cards (by getting their dream qualities too high) must see dream cards everyday, and I think adding a clear finish to such daily content would be marvellous.

Honestly, I'm more interested in finally getting an update for Light Fingers than I am in any of the stories in the poll. Of those, though, I want more about the Cheery Man and the Last Constable.

Difficult choice, but I've voted for the Watchmaker's Daughter if only because I see reference to it all the time and I'd really like to help the poor gel out.
Dilmun Club would be second choice, just so I can pal around with His Amused Lordship some more. Maybe he'll clap me on the shoulder personably!

I wonder, why is the Dilmun club so popular in comparison to all the other stories?

Seeking Mr Eaten's Name, of course, despite it being not included here on purpose.
Other than that, I voted for the dreams. I really like the idea of specific destination for each dream, it has so much potential, it can be almost whatever the writer wants it to be.

I put in the suggestion thread a while ago that it would be cool if there were a poll like this in game. So you could basically dump a whole bunch of cartography items to "vote" for the Dilmun Club, or a bunch of infernal items to "vote" for the blind pianist and the sallow spirifer, etc. You'd get some sort of cosmetic reward, or maybe unlock a bit of extra lore when the story eventually launches, but the main idea is that it lets us "vote with our wallets". I think it sends a much stronger signal if people are dumping thousands or tens of thousands of echoes into 'please make this specific content'.

It is about time I returned to my rightful place as Imperial Artist In Residence. Port Carnelian is fun, but i miss the Court and I'm sure that business with the Bell And Candle Opera has blown over by now.

I voted for the mysteries of Clay Men and Parabola as it came closest to what I care about -- the conflict between what Is and what Is Not. But I feel that Parabola and the Fingerkings touch deeply the Wars of Illusion and the Labyrinth as well. The story of the war between the Cats and Snakes shows up in a fairly big chunk of places.

I'm a bit surprised there aren't more votes for the Spirifer/Pianist story. I mean, it's about smuggling people in and out of Hell! I don't remember reading something like that anywhere before!!

I admit, it does get aggravating with the hundred of cards scattered through London whose main purpose is to get people involved in that storyline.

The whole concept of the Spirifer and the Pianist STILL fascinates me and I'd love to see that story brought to its conclusion, but it was still a VERY close call between it and the Endings to the other four dreams. In the end I had to vote for the Spirifer and the Pianist.

I'd imagine that's the big holdup really. If we actually smuggle someone out of hell that will reveal what actually happens to the people who go there. They're probably holding that back until they create some more significant content, such as perhaps the bishop's invasion. Hopefully that will be soon, but I doubt it.

They don't have much of a presence, don't they? We barely knew about them, and the smuggling doesn't come up anywhere else at all. But the Cheery Man's everywhere.

Currently, indeed not. But possibly what other means (and certainly what I would mean if I voted for that option) is that, for example, the actual link between Clay Men and Parabola has not been explained or explored in any great amount of detail. Even if you take into account tangential lore info from Sunless Sea the relationship appears to be indirect at best, so I've always wondered why name the card "Mirrors and Clay"

Gosh darn it, that's a hard choice XD
I voted for the "War of Illusion"; I thought it was incredibly interesting, and I liked the idea of new connections to build and use, and I was curious about the lore of how they fitted into the world at large, as well as what would come at the end.
Second choice, "The Watchmaker's Daughter" for sure.
The "Pianist and the Spirifer" . . . if they ever do finish that, it'd be nice to get a chance to start from the beginning, as I very much regret my initial choice and that choice was probably made over a year ago. I bet some people it's been years, in the plural, and it seems unfair that a choice made in one's infancy should affect a game continuation years later, but . . . that's life, I guess XD People change, but our pasts don't.

Well to be fair we will apparently be getting a Cheery Man and Last Constable update in Sunless Sea (the files already have some of it) so there may well be a Fallen London tie-in when it releases. Kaijyuu wrote:

Can OP/admin put an all of the above option? I want to see all of those stories Anyways, if I had to choose, it's probably the Shuttered Palace artist in residence storyline which I'm most intrigued to finish since that location satisfies both the reader and the gamer in me.
