"Certainly over something. Charles Sketch's death. Supposed death. Something about Sketch. Nothing was ever clear with that ba___rd. It never did ring true, the detective, the trumped-up charges, the way he died." He coughs. "A long story, and one that doesn't ever wrap itself up neatly."
"But Drake I consider -" he falters, ever so faintly "- a friend, if a distant one. I've not been much help to him, but I hope he finds himself freed soon."
"Not a short answer, or a simple one, but yes: over a murder."

"That's where it all gets a bit shady. At that Hallowmas party, table six. Some undercover detective masquerading as Sketch's son. No idea who set the hound to the scent." The Sailor pauses. "If I wasn't masked and bundled up, dining on another table, I daresay he'd have tried to take me to New Newgate too."

Maria FINALLY appears out of her thoughts, as New Newgate is mentioned "That Dynamo guy is in prison?" she takes a closer look at the brick "Why... are they speaking of siblings? And... hm... getting OUT of New Newgate, is hard, but nothing we didn't do... wait, Fleshy helped me to break Eli out back then, we can repeat it. We need a Dirigible, a few guns and dynamite... that way, windows can be kept as well..."

I apologize for any and all anachronisms. I am too lazy to check some facts if I am sure they are from the 1890s or sometimes think they are.

"I was at that table, so I can repeat how it exactly went down. But the crime was at zee, correct? Usually the police do not bother themselves with those who go "missing." What made Sketch so special?"

"Personal grievance with the "Detective" involved, I think." The quotation marks are palpable. "The Professor did wrong by a lot of people in his time, and even after his passing some weren't content to let it lie."
At Maria's words the Sailor is intrigued. "I heard tell of the first heist in the papers - that was you? Sounds like risky business."

"Wouldn't mind giving him a piece of my own mind. . .Oh, you haven't heard the story yet?" Dirae Erinyes rummages in their infinite pockets before pulling out a dubious flask. "It's a good one."

Lyndon glances at the brick laying on the floor in the middle of a plethora of glass shards. He had expected many things from that evening. An intimidation wasn't among them. "A note tied to a brick. A murder at zee. Sounds like something out of a penny dreadful." he mutters under his breath. He didn't know the parties involved at the time, and he doesn't really feel any sympathy now, but even that kind of information might prove relevant someday. If you wait and listen long enough, you can find a fortune in the strangest of places. He turns to Maria at the same time as the sailor. "I think I read something about it as well. A daring feat, from what I gather. Although... I have to wonder if New Newgate is really as secure as people say." edited by Bertrand Lyndon on 2/24/2017 edited by Bertrand Lyndon on 2/24/2017 edited by Bertrand Lyndon on 2/24/2017

"Oh, it wasn't JUST me... I had help... or more, I helped with the heist. But it wasn't me... not alone, and not at all if any constable asks. I was on an exile in the tomb colonies actually... I have a certainly not bribed witness to prove I was on the very same steamer..."

(OOC: So, I don't roleplay here anymore, and I more or less leave what goes on in this thread up to the roleplayers who still use it. But I would like to ask you to please stop throwing plot hooks through the window. You've been doing this since before I left, and, although I'm sure you didn't intend it, it comes across as disruptive and a little spammy. You are perfectly free to make your own thread, friend. :P Thanks for understanding, 'bye.)

(OOC: Why a brick? :P Why not use the postman? Why not have an NPC enter with a newspaper about what's happening in your plot and start shouting about it? Basically, why fly-by vandalism instead of participating in the spirit of the argument salon?
I'll leave it up to the people who roleplay here how they feel about it. If people are enjoying the plot hooks, there's no reason to object to it, I think. Good day.)

Maria enters, with her right arm in a cast and a wedding ring on her hand. A VERY unhappy looking nun follows behind her and just glares at everybody. Maria smiles "Hello. I got married. Ah, and I heard of somebody who escaped New Newgate... more than I did since two weeks ago. Just married, bought a ship, ALMOST opened a newspaper and broke my arm on a velocipede. Those things are DEADLY! A real danger!"
