And people who are not 215 base dangerous are locked out of renown: TC 50 because the highest level requires 49 x 6 = 294 Dangerous, which cannot be done even with a mood without Shattering Force. This sucks.

If you fail the Dangerous challenge when meeting Tomb Colonists at the carnival you get the favor, but not the renown. So the more you can lower your Dangerous the more favors you can get before you're locked out.

There's now a new option on the Bandaged Raven Card, "Encourage Her to Befriend Tomb-Colonists", which grants one TC Favour as expected.

That's vastly different results from malecylpse though. Do remember the number of Favours you had?

Seven. Here, have a screencap of my results.

So, basically after spending almost two weeks incessantly grinding Prisoner's Honey with the intention to convert it up to Antique Mysteries for a Royal Bethlehem room, I only just found out about favours being required to convert Mysteries of the Elder Continent and Presbyterate Passphrases. Needless to say, I can't tell if I'm more irritated at the necessity of this, or at myself for using the outdated wikidot as my only reference for end-game grinding. I went through this entire thread praying that someone would have discovered some previously hidden miracle method of grinding favours, but I guess not.

I guess it's off to exile for me for now. And I was so proud of myself for never having been through a menace area too.

If anyone's hanging around the court composing some music, they could check The Music of the Tomb option to see if they changed the connection requirement to a renown/favour requirement.

I saved a rubbery man instead of a tomb colonist. 7 favors gone. looks like 30 cp rubbery men only. 5 carnival tickets. 1 magnificent diamond gain. 750 deep amber loss. So 30 cp and 5 echoes for 7 favors. Poor trade.

Playing the Tomb Colonists side against the Rubbery Men

Lost 10 levels of Rubbery; gained 5 Carnival tickets; 2 Puzzle Damask; 60 Silk Scrap; some someone is coming and got some wounds. If my dangerous wasn't capped it would have increased and it will also take daring to 5.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.

No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Ahh! So we've two classes of connection cards involving Favours, right?

Connected 50 (or 30)/Favours 5 unlock
Widow (30)/Docks 5
Society (50)/Tomb 5
Constables (50)/Criminals 5
Rubbery (30)/Tomb 5 - !confirmed below.

Connected 5/Favours 3-4
Urchins/Docks

So which type is the Rubbery Man/Tomb Colonist card?

It'll probably be better when the TC equipments are released- those added a few pointed persuasive amoung the rubberies.

Favour use

Bandages and Dust: The Tomb Colonies
Spar with a black ribbon duelist:14 change points of dangerous for 1 favour(same as before but for 1 favour instead)

dissapointed it didn't get the same change as criminals(high amount of favours for alot of change points for one main stat).

Did the action require Nodules of Deep Amber?

If not, it might be possible to make the action pretty profitable.

With amber it's (12.5-7.5+.1+.5)/5=1.12 EPF (crummy)
Without amber it's (12.5+.1+.5)/5=2.62 EPF (not bad at all).

Didn't require any amber, I don't think. Still hoping it's just someone accidentally placing a minus sign where it doesn't belong, though.

Any idea how many CP of wounds it was?

Has got to be less than 3CP right? But that's also for 7 Favours, not 5, so there could be a smaller reward for fewer Favours.

Ironically, adding the Extraordinary Implication to "Trade your Collection..." actually increases the EPA despite requiring an additional action to get a favour. Unfortunately, it'll be less frequent what with having to draw two cards instead of one for each exchange.

Being sent to the Tomb Colonies through the Ballet in Court does not award Favours: Tomb Colonists.

EDIT: I found something in the Tomb Colonies that grants Favours.

A letter from the Comtessa's Father > As It Should Be

This will increase your scandal, but gain you a Favour: Tomb-Colonies.

http://oi68.tinypic.com/2n0verc.jpg

EDIT: I should have taken a screenshot of the result page. I think that it has a Hedonist gain, Auster drop, but I can't remember... Can someone verify?

It's interesting that most of the ways to gain Favours with the Tomb-Colonists can only be accomplished when you've been exiled to the Tomb-Colonies (automatic favour on exile, A letter from the comte, Remnants, etc.). In London, by comparison, once you're locked out of the free Circus favours you have to rely on the Tomb-Colonists' card (and Bandaged Raven, if you have it). I assume this is intentional, although it will take some getting used to, especially since there are comparatively so many ways to get favours with the Criminals.

I may just have to take a business trip out to the tomb-colonies to pick up some favours. Speaking of the Tomb-Colonies, though, it will be interesting to see if any of the storylets in Venderbight (as part of the Nemesis storyline) provide favours. If anyone is about to travel there, please report back to us.

I don't regret the storyline - it's probably my favorite of the early ones and I didn't even look into the Cheery Man's side deeply. I remember getting the mental image of holding on to a gold fishbowl on a jetty, and holding on to that single goldfish for the longest time as my first pet. But I'd like for her to come back some time!

Well, put it this way - at least it doesn't also give out a Dock's Favour?

I don't think they are the same person. The Constable really doesn't feel like the type that can say "London's fickle" without raving madly.

Actually, until the recent Favours/Renown change, it was arguably uneven in the other direction, since siding with the Cheery Man adding a (mostly) useless non-discardable card to your deck. So, (role playing aside) siding with the Last Constable used to be the much better choice.

Not all of the complaints are about financial benefits. It felt uneven because you have all the time in the world to watch senior citizens manhandle the Cheery Man while never getting to interact with the Constable as they breeze though the storyline.
