But if he wears clothes, he can't do the sad bat pose with the blanket anymore.

What will stop him from getting himsef under warm blankets for psychological safety? Some clothes? HA, I say.

Next comic, back to the main path of the comic, after a leghty detour to pick my alt profile for the ride. Some details missing will be dealt with as the story goes. I'll say in advance that he will keep the name 'Derek', since he got used to it and that the sulky bat that he used to 'possess' is alive and well, just way less smart and prone to human talk.
You can send social actions to him here: http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Derek~Davis Seriously, this jobless freeloader does not have enough connection for any job. Tsk tsk tsk. The closest he has to actual work is presentations at Saturdays in Mahogany Hall. He will appreciate job counselling (actually, no, he will not, but he needs it anyway).

The moral of the story is... don't trust your aunt and/or Mr Wines when they give you strange, bubbly liquids.

While my stories are mostly forged in the heat of my actions, I still should probably follow the giggling exception. I DO rather manage to accumulate a variety of... special circumstances in my wake. Not the Vake, you silly, but, if you can catch it, might as well... edited by Vavakx Nonexus on 6/30/2016

I'm sorry, only characters with long and complicated back-stories are allowed to exist in Fallen London Also, from the cute bat picture you had earlier, I recommend the Honduran White Bat for your next google images search.

*Absimiliard wanders off, still giggling* Derek is a simple creature, really. Besides, think about the lot of story that his simply words imply.

Well, apparently the game let's you be a good-for-nothing care-free amoral hedonist quite easily. You usually don't really need reasons more complicated than 'I want money to waste on drinks and honey' to explain your actions.
About the google search: ARE YOU TRYING TO GIVE ME DIABETES? /dies
(The bat in my signature were a place holder for Derek's upcoming profile. I found it looking for references to draw him. I never used te references, but now my facebook has an album called 'cute bats'.)

[[Things are finally getting back to normal. The Professor is almost becoming an Extraordinary Mind in game and she is not even a POSI yet in the comics. Tsc, tsc, Strix. Get your butt to work.]]
After all this time, you can finally release your breath: the bat which Derek's soul was "possessing" is fine, and as sulky as ever. He doesn't feel compelled to use human speech anymore, but he will still occupy his spot at the Professor's shoulder. It's his spot.

Fun fact: Derek is working as a journalist for the Professor's newspaper, but I don't think he will want to pursue this career further until he becomes a Correspondent. I still have no idea which advanced profession he would have.
Fun fact 2: I just noticed that I forgot to get back and draw the Professor's tie in almost all frames. Eh, I'll leave them like that for now.

Derek, this is why you should always be careful of compliments and generosity. Maybe Derek would make a good Glassman after all of his previous adventures with mirrors.

Maybe, but I'm not sure if he is really that eager to come back to Parabola after being around 3 years stranded there. He *could* be a conjurer, but the devils are still mad at him for some reason. Everyone is mad at him for some reason, except the Rubberies. Derek and the Rubberies mostly ignore each other.

There. One more stat until she is a person of some importance.
Personal headcanon: someone bred mushrooms until their dots were little hearts, so you could give to your beloved in lieu of flowers.

I think that sounds extremely plausible -- the bit about the heart-studded mushrooms.
