I was not sure where to put it, but at the end of this card, there's the message: RIP Jack Vance without whom there would be fewer colours in fallen London.
Now I wanted to ask: Who was J. Vance? What did he do?

I apologize for any and all anachronisms. I am too lazy to check some facts if I am sure they are from the 1890s or sometimes think they are.
Oh, and by the way, I am not polish, I am GERMAN to clarify for heavens sake... tylko po polsku mowie. Um Himmelswillen...

Dunno if it's related, but the only Jack Vance I know about was a sci-fi writer, creator of the "The Dying Earth" series and many other books. edited by Zeroebbasta on 2/18/2016

If you're a fan of Jack Vance, I suggest checking out Gene Wolfe (Book of the New Sun) and Dan Simmons (Hyperion). Gygax was also heavily inspired by him.
