I could have sworn a thread like this already existed . . .
Essentially, I was curious about the nature of love regarding the masters.
I remember a user elsewhere saying love stories between the masters, or masters and the playable character, wouldn't be counted towards the Bazaar's mission . . . another said it just wasn't possible, due to such large differences . . . what got me thinking to the contrary were sections such as: "Each year, Mr Hearts sends one of these to Mr Iron. Each year, Mr Iron promptly auctions it off" and "It does - a little unnervingly - place its hand on your knee several times. (Hand? Whatever it keeps in its glove, in any case.) Is this Masterly flirtation?"
The former I found today during the feast; it may be nothing, but sending an item (that's a seemingly romantic one, in this case a 'Key-to-Heart Dagger'), that's then rejected every single year . . . it's almost like a courtship; a one-sided love that's rejected each year, especially with this being a festival dedicated to love . . .
The latter quote seems to imply masters - in this case Apples - can feel love and/or lust towards the player character, who should be mostly human for the most part, despite them being a space-bat for the whole part . . .
I'm curious whether over examples of masterly love exist, or what people think of the matter . . .
Could there be a master's love story in the Bazaar's future collection? edited by RobinMask on 2/9/2016

Romances between the Masters would not be helpful for the Bazaar, but that doesn't mean they can't happen anyway. A person doesn't typically decide who or whether to date based on how helpful it would be for their employer, you know?
Romances between the Masters and humans could count, but given the sorts of beings they have to convince it probably wouldn't be very helpful either. "You didn't actually like this lower being, you just did it to make a story" is the likely response to such a story. Again, that doesn't mean it can't happen, just that the Bazaar would prefer to have examples of love between the chain from other pairings.

Could there be a master's love story in the Bazaar's future collection?
Connected: the Masters of the Bazaar 8 - There May Be Indiscretions Closest to: the Masters of the Bazaar - as of yet, all sources unknown
So perhaps this will be where dots connect.
Also, is there a scene in Fate-locked content set over a dinner with one of the Masters? I strongly remember this happening, but didn't record it in my journal and can't seem to find evidence in the wikis, so don't take this assertion so strongly.

I found this one, which isn't fate-locked:
"Mr Apples seems delighted to see you. It presses honeyed wine on you and insists you try a variety of preserved fruits imported at tremendous expense from the Darker Continent. The fruits have wonderful healing properties, and taste extraordinary besides. It whispers incautious gossip about the Masters in your eager ear. It indicates coyly that Mr Hearts and Mr Mirrors are trading names, though it doesn't say who for. It does - a little unnervingly - place its hand on your knee several times. (Hand? Whatever it keeps in its glove, in any case.) Is this Masterly flirtation? Or is it determining whether you're ripe and plump for some dreadful purpose?"
I also remember reading one on someone else's journal, from the snow-clearing (as there are at least five different masters that shovel), one master drinking with you and you sort of . . . falling unconscious. It was a little creepy, reminded me of possibly Veils. I went through my whole journal, which is 90% a shrine to the masters, and couldn't find anything else related . . . I must have missed it or not recorded it, too XD edited by RobinMask on 2/15/2016

RobinMask, that's definitely not the scene I'm remembering, but the snow-clearing is a good lead. That's the time in the year my memory is from. Oh, and here's another snippet from the same storylet as the encounter with Mr Apples you transcribe:
Mr Wines presses a wax-sealed bottle on you as you leave. "I think you'd look charming in black," it says enigmatically.
Potentially flirtation, but I believe the other possible connotations of this comment are more interesting...
It seems the Masters all suffer from some form of melancholy. They are the victims of a long con by the Bazaar.
It seems to me that they all have problems with the non-compete provisions in their employment contracts which keep them in indentured servitude to the Bazaar, and they've all accepted it to varying degrees.
Mr. Irons seems the most simpatico, he is the only one that warns you against being a "pawn". The rest seem very happy to have humanity serving as lower-echelon scrubs.
Apples, Wines and the rest that seem to hit on you - actually seem to be appraising you as feast, not festivity.
I'd read Wines/Spices slash of course. Especially if Mr Pages wrote it. edited by Ava Pepper on 2/17/2016

I always found what Mr Wines said here... interesting, because the bottle which he gives you is a bottle of Black Wings Absinthe.
