I wish to make a certain trade with The Apicius Club's Prucurer General. I have something they may hold interest in and I expect a decent price. Problem is I have no idea when or where to meet.

Well at the very least I should say thanks for the heads up. You didn't have to warn us that our optimization plans were for not, but you did and that counts for something. It makes me miss the monthly change logs Adam/Flyte used to write for the FBG blog. Those were quite useful. Optimization planning is something that will always happen; it's part of our nature as engaged and highly invested/caring players. But little heads up like these do make a difference. So thank you Hannah and Chris :-)

Everyone, it's worth remembering that we do change events from year to year. Sometimes we change the details, sometimes we restructure them radically, occasionally we retire them altogether. Lot of folks are depending on it showing up so the can sell that snow they invested in. So it sure would be qa shame if it came too late. There's only like one maybe two weeks left before that happens. Like, if it's not going to happen in that time frame, it would be nice to know so we can convert pails to long boxes or something.

Point taken.
I think much of the expectation comes from De Gustibus buying (at least last year) Pails of So-Called Snow just before they melted. This is an option which is only relevant during a very particular timing window.

I missed participating last year, although I was playing every day. But I was off of both the forums and social media, so I would have missed any access code announcements.

Indeed it is logical, and thus why we expected it last year. But FBG have been rather explicit in saying this event, if it ever does return (it may not), holds to no rules, may change completely, and is released on a as they feel like it surprise schedule. I'd suggest considering this event to be retired content until further notice. It was part of the A Particular Day in the Neath series of content on the past, but none of that occurred this year at all. So it's a sort of I wouldn't hold your breath, and if it does come it probably won't be what you expect type situation.

I just realized this is probably related to all the new cool Sustenance items. They may be revamping to take into account the large number of otherwise useless "food" items that have been introduced. Which would be awesome.

Ah I see where the confusion lies: http://fallenlondon.storynexus.com/Profile/Snickerer?fromEchoId=3211617
As you can see from the link above, yes De Gustibus did show up on the 24th of February 2014. But that's the text for selling a pail. This means that pails were still around in February of 2014. Pails melted for the first time ever in February 2015.
So I was right that De Gustibus purchased pails two years in a row, but I was wrong in thinking that the dates were consistent. Considering the 2015 De Gustibus date move coincided with the mechanics change to make pails melt, it wasn't too much of a logical leap to assume that the De Gustibus date was moved -because- pails were going to melt. Ah well.

Appreciate the tip, as Time is due for me this evening. Just fed my last three buckets to a Boar. What's the cap on that option incidentally? I went from PtPT 10 to 13 with no problems.

Part of the original rationale was to promote the social media platforms as the place to go for official communications. They are free to use (on both sides) and light on time/expertise investment (on both sides). This just means that if you want to use the codes, when you load up FL in the morning, also hit twitter.com/echobazaar to get the code. This is what I did to stay up to date. No need for a profile, login, etc.

Well, last year I was offline on January-March. Missed the Rose feast too. No matter what the decision is for this event, should it go forward whenever it does, I do hope it is posted here in this thread as well. (But since I logged in here instead of Twitter first, I guess I don't have to check if I missed it there.)

Hi, Hannah. I am not sure if this is intentional but of the reasons for the timing confusion is because the storylet text suggest the "second monday of the month". I realise that this doesn't have to match the real world calendar but perhaps some slight massaging of the text might clear any possible confusion?

Sure, it's a dynamic game, past returns are never a guarantee of future performance. But the in game message is only "Any Pails of So-Called Snow you possess will melt next week.". Not that and "Use them quickly!" or something else to warn that things may change from last year.
So I'm probably going to white-knuckle (ba-dum-bump) my buckets until a tiny bit closer to my TtH tomorrow before using them instead of them melting as it sure seems like I won't be able to sell this year. Which I personally dislike because I didn't see anything new in the WIcket to buy and already just saved my naturally generated pails. But it's not the end of the neath either.

Anyone with spare buckets and no particular use could try dumping them in the river for potential PtPT: The Drownies gain. Which would be especially good for anyone at level three to do as we don't know if it caps there.

For anyone upset by this, I'd like to point out that The Catafalquerie in the Nadir is a good use of spare buckets, provided you have the ability to get Taste to 7 beforehand.
Edit: Feex, according to the correction below. I'll point out that it's good to have a spare point of Taste anyway, as you'll need one if you have a reason to huff Tears. edited by Cocytus on 1/29/2016

To quote Shatner: "It hasn't happened yet." My point isn't that it will appear then; rather that it would be the most logical time if it were to return. Both previous times of De Gustibus were after Sacksmas and let players sell spare snow, though the first came in March as snow melting wasn't implemented that year.
