Intrepid explorers have recently discovered new and exciting ways to have body and mind fail you while in certain exotic ports of call as well.
-- I'm sorry, but due to policy clarifications, I will no longer be giving detailed mechanics advice on the forums.

This was discussed elsewhere previously, but I'll just post the relevant info in a non-spoiler-y way here.
The Iron Republic has qualities that are checked against things that seemingly make no sense. (This is not a literal example next, but just some random examples I am making up to show the randomness: ) You'll be Melancholy one moment and Scandalous the next. And that's because you decided to have a spouse or not before ending up there. Then you'll be overly Magnanimous.
Unless you're looking for a Nemesis, you don't bring anything there.
The only thing you should not bring are regular Souls. A random pathing can cause a story to remove all of them. Sell or up/side-convert all Souls before going there. I'll leave the rest up to you to discover. Well, I can provide the details, but often the Minist... [REDACTED} You'll learn why. Before going back home however, it's best to write about your experiences (there will be a place when done with the Days there.) The journal gives you +2 to BDR.

I suppose in hindsight that would have made a lot of sense - but as one of my main cash grinds involves vast quantities of Souls, this piece of information is of particular importance to me. Thankyou! :-D

Could you tell us (in spoiler brackets) which storylet it is? I don't feel like searching through all Iron Republic storylets on the wikia, there's quite a few...
-- Rupho Schartenhauer has killed a Master, well: most of it. Cortez the Killer has killed a Master, definitely. Deepdelver has become the progenitor of London's brightest star. It's... complicated. Dr. Kvirkvelia, gone NORTH on 23/12/1894.
Day 48: Above Eagles. As far as I know you only lose 200 souls if you fail the challenge
it is entirely possible to not encounter that day and if you do you have a chance not to lose any souls

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Though, iirc, there's one specific day on which having several
(five) brass rings
can make a (slightly) profitable difference.
