I've been waiting for the Opportunity card that lets me become a Doctor, but it's not shown up. Am I waiting for something that doesn't exist?

Do I need, instead, to obtain a Favourable Circumstance at my Lodgings and then use that to obtain an Unsigned Letter?

The latter will use up 7 Notability. Do I need Notability for anything Christmas related?

Wow, what timing. I just got the card today, and now I'm a doctor. Interesting that the card requires just 5 Notability, while the storylet requires 7 (to get the Favorable Circumstance).

Congratulations!
Glad it worked out. 5 notability? Wiki says 3.. Though I also remember 5.

Now you only need to choose a specialty and go treat those fallen londoners.
A few suggestions:
** Marsh doctor (like a country doctor, only.. you know).
** Rubbery specialist. you will be exposed to the field of
GENETICS!
Not familiar with that concept? Well, SCIENCE then. Don't worry. You'll get there.
** Surgeon, a skillful knife user like Jack, only accepted by the law and earns payment. Plus, rarely anyone dies at your table.
** Psychiatrist. Compete with famous Dr. Shlomo and perhaps find a cure for Irrigo's amnesia. Be the Royal Beth's house doctor.
** The royal physician, at court. I hear they have some strange patients to visit.
** The council's doctor. Not everyone needs to know you have ties with the revolutioners, of course. They do have some uses for a doctor, you can imagine.
** Open your own orphanage and experiment! Oh my. My my my. Science, we said, right?
** A zee doctor. Every vessel needs one. All the Zzzoup one can stomach. I'm kidding. Often no zoup and much hunger.
** A specialty in Snuffers. Oh. You can't say that out loud. But they do have the most intriguing anatomy.
** A boring physician. A most boring one.

** A wolfsdock physician. A visit worth 50 rustygolds for only 1cp reduction. There are thousands of players in FL. Imagine the income!!!
** A cook. Yea. There are plenty of meals and feasts which lowers wounds by 3 cp and more. (e.g. a dinner gong at Polite Invitation, Dante's Grill, Spore-Toffee, Refreshments at first coil of the labyrinth, feast at university, A Magnificent Feast, a feast on a Fate locked story on Trade of Souls, a restorative, at least two options at Mutton Island...)
A cook is the best physician in the Neath, apparently.
** An animancer. The field of examining and mending souls.

And the last and best field there is - an anesthesiologist!
Best of luck, delicious colleague.
