Christmas in the Neath! Hark to the tuneless singing of urchins. Wade through a drift of what Londoners pretend is snow.
SNOW!
Starting at noon GMT today, Time, the Healer will bring ‘snow’ to the doorsteps of London. You’ll need to dig your door out, or find a helpful soul to assist you.
You may even spend Fate to employ a certain cowled assistant - and earn unique seasonal Home Comfort items!
Acquiring pails of this so-called snow and learning what you can about it will unlock a selection of seasonal benefits at the end of the season, when Penstock’s Wicket opens on the 6th of January.
A GIFT FROM MR SACKS
The urchins have got their hands on Mr Sacks’ terrible sack. You can draw a gift from it (or send one to a friend) - for a price, of course.
Buy a lucky dip in Mr Sacks’ sack for yourself, or send a lucky dip draw to another player! There's a snippet of story for each prize. Begin with Explore the festive season, available throughout London.
TREATS AND WELL-WISHES
The Fallen London advent calendar continues! Each window is only around for a few days, so check back regularly to receive all of the various treats.
Christmas cards are still being delivered by Time, the Healer! We encourage you to reach out to a new player with a card and a friendly greeting, in the spirit of the season. Find new friends on reddit, twitter (using #flcards) or here on the forums.
Look for Explore the festive season throughout London to take part in the seasonal fun! edited by h4nchan on 12/14/2015

Now there's an access code I can get behind. If you haven't seen, I am the perfect place to send cat boxes (if you don't mind sending them to someone who already has a Starveling Cat or 77).

The difference I'd say for the Rat of Glory is that it's much less of a guaranteed gain. With my best gear I have Watchful ~250 and only a 60% of using it successfully, which also takes seven actions per try and even on success has a 20% or so chance of stealing tons of candles instead of giving anything useful. On the other hand a soul can be sold for a fairly large amount normally and various options like the Brass Embassy room and having purchased the Soul Trade make it even more lucrative.

I hope there is an option to get a third tattoo this year, or that you can reset tattoos individually. Because I want a heptagoat tattoo, but it would be a shame to lose the noman tattoo. My current tattoos are my own name, and my own face (noman). I, ah, I might be a -little- vain. Maybe, just a bit :P edited by NiteBrite on 12/22/2015

Most of the year, that wouldn't be too big a deal. It's Sackmas-tide, though, and that would end up giving a ton of advantage to people who could sell their soul using The Western Tower card. That's 130 Echos or another Pail!

Which means you can also add it for ease of reference to your Plans.
Just find any action which requires ToL (e.g. by choosing a Pail of So-called Snow so you can see the Boar option, even if you can't/won't use it), and click the little ribbon to add this action to your plans.
Now, anytime you want to check your ToL level, choose your Plans tab, find the action you've marked (e.g. Feed it to a Wild Boar) and hover the mouse over the ToL requirements icon. Much faster than going to the Myself tab, opening the Story category and scrolling down / searching for the quality).

Somebody on another site did this mistake, so I thought I'd warn everybody (again: )
If you completely lose your Putting the Pieces Together: A Taste of Lacre, you can't buy Buckets of So-Called-Snow from Urchins. If you are in that point, only said Buckets, finishing an (Uncompleted) 12 Days with Mr. Sacks choosing the correct options on certain days or allowing a melting purchased Noman (not getting to Noman Knows 15+) and putting it in a Bucket for So-Called Snow can add that Taste back.
You don't wan t to get to this point.
It's always best to have +3 Taste for the Wicket anyway (to enter) and a +1 taste to buy the Snow. Even if you have a Taste balance when the Christmas event ends, you can buy Tears of the Bazaar in the Nadir with them or save them as Rollover for next year's events (they last unlike the buckets which can also be used in De Gustibus.) edited by the truthseeker on 1/14/2016

That's 130 Echos or another Pail! Oh wow, I didn't even realise that was a thing which could be done. Thing is though, some of these advents give items which can be used far more effectively by some people than others. Taking the previous example of the 9th day, the FiHP that gave could really only be used by non-POSI characters for monetary gain, whereas POSI characters could use them for creating MW on The High Tower Card. It would be quite an exploit though if someone used that soul-returning method.

Just something I've noticed.
I've seen people talking about how the level for Taste of Lacre isn't displayed and you either need to know what the the descriptions correspond to, or use the profile mantle piece trick. Has anyone else noticed that the level is clearly marked under story qualities on the "Myself" tab?

so im fairly new to the game, been playing for about a month or two and its definitely my first Christmas, whats the best way to use buckets of snow? This thread covers the mechanics of lacre and Mr. Sacks and such. Much of it is specifically for optimizing gains as a high-level player but I'm sure you can find some useful information. If you have a four-card lodging and are a PoSI then I'd recommend trying to upgrade the lodging to the five-card version. Otherwise (or if you get a five-card and have stuff left over) a Remote Address lodging would be a good goal. Those are pretty cheap at only three Taste of Lacre, or three buckets max, and while in use prevent several common but fairly useless cards from showing up.

You can get those at Mutton Island during the fall festival...I forget what it's called exactly. But you can only have one at a time there because the action carousel that grants them cannot be repeated while you have one, so it's nice to have an extra for next year! Deep-zee Catch, not Curious Catch. The latter is a quality and gets removed by TtH when the festival ends.

Pass the Cat should really let you Pass the Cat, i.e., send it on to somebody else if you are sent one (as opposed to drawing the card normally). Otherwise, it can be a bit harassing. And Cecil, you have two cat boxes from me sitting in your mailbox! I bet you're being swamped!

I believe that it not showing a number is because you have only one, whether it's a quality or item. If the value was 0 then you wouldn't have the quality at all so nothing would be shown, such as when viewing your profile between raiding sacks.
