In preparation for the advent of Mr Sacks, I managed to stumble upon this quote. It piqued my interest, though I can't wrap my head around it.
So what does Mr Sacks meant when he said this?

Generally speaking, it means "You get what you give."
"You, [gendertitle], are no more generous than you deserve. Good day." And he's gone, before you can untangle whether 'more generous than you deserve' actually means anything except 'I enjoy the sound of my own voice.'
But in regards to all things Fallen London, never trust what is revealed on its Surface (as it will kill you with the light of the Sun....whoops, I digress again.)

Probably you are no more generous to us than we are to you, but with numerous other undertones layered beneath that one.
Or maybe generosity is something valued for it's own sake on the chain. That is, perhaps, possible.
