THE FALLEN LONDON ADVENT CALENDAR
Visit the Fallen London Advent Calendar every day until Christmas to receive a snippet of sepulchrally Yuley narrative, and something besides: trinkets, magpie-treasures, and occasionally, something rare.
Follow us on Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook to be reminded when a new gift is released.
Open the first window now!
Edit, 7th Dec: We've buffed the advent calendar so it works across more browsers! We also filled in the rest of the windows, to address a misunderstanding that it was simply a desktop background. Now you get to hunt and pick at doors to your heart's content.
CHRISTMAS CARDS IN FALLEN LONDON
Tell your friends you are thinking of them this festive season with a Fallen London Christmas card!
Your stock of cards will be replenished weekly by Time, the Healer. Find them in your Lodgings, under Send a Christmas Card.
(You no longer need to be acquaintances to exchange Christmas cards, unless you intend to arrange for the Bazaar to send a Christmas card on your behalf.)
Find new players to exchange cards with here, on the Fallen London subreddit, Facebook, Twitter (using #flcards) and Tumblr.
EXCEPTIONAL MERCHANDISE
The Fallen London Store is now bursting with clothes, accessories and gift ideas for you and your delicious friends.
New in: the Mr Sacks range, guaranteed to attract second glances at Christmas parties (is that Father Christmas? Where are his eyes?).
Also new for the season and by popular request: Hello Delicious Hot Chocolate mugs!
Here are Spreadshirt's cutoff dates for Christmas orders, don't miss out! edited by h4nchan on 12/3/2015 edited by h4nchan on 12/7/2015

Hello all - Developer Sam here. I made the advent calendar! I've also just made a few changes that means it'll work on Chrome, Firefox and Safari for iPhones, iPads, Android phones and PC's. Here in northern Greece I cannot remember a sunnier November than the one we've just had, and although it's very cold after sunset (falling to around 0 °C late at night), the weather is still sunny most days, very pleasant in the early afternoon (up to 14 °C in the shade, I read, but I avoid that shade, for it is treacherous).
Meanwhile, I have also tired of this waiting game (rendered more annoying by my inability to compare with previous years, not having experienced another Sacksmas), and have taken Mini-Me down to Flute Street. I don't expect to stay many days, but it's an interesting place. And so deep... I'm not even sure how we could possibly be communicating right now.

This is a bit early, but if an access code rolls around that gives out a catbox, it would be more than welcome with me. The Starveling Cafe is home to all manner of cat (and often spider).
Any catboxes sent also get marked and recorded and further SCIENCE! if that's the thing that appeals to you.

I confess that I'm getting nervous about how long it's taking for the "Snowbound" portion of Sackmas to begin. From looking at the historical info on the wiki, it seems like the evolution of Sackmas over the years has been all to the good. And I'd be the last to suggest that they have an obligation to announce new changes beforehand. I am, however, getting nervous even if I don't have the right to be.
I've built up Scholar of the Correspondence, purchased a Monocle and been heavily stocking up on Last Chance...'s, Threnodies (which have little other purpose) and Scheme (to convert to Favorable Circumstance) since before Hallowmas and from the forum activity I'm not alone. The longer the streets are clear, the fewer opportunities there are to draw Urchins and the more resources will have to be spent to force it. All assuming that Pails can still be bought.
Most of what I've done can be used/spent/sold/converted for other things eventually so it's not a net-loss or anything. It is, all the same, nerve-wracking. edited by MrBurnside on 12/5/2015 edited by MrBurnside on 12/5/2015

According to google ware is an archaic adjective form of aware. Clearly too many people learned the details of using lacre so now it's all run off.

Ah, but "presents" implies that we don't have to pay for the lacre/lodgings. And we kinda do, potentially. With the structural and metaphysical integrity of our bodies and minds, no less!

Hmm... tales from the Zee are nice, even Dubious ones, but I think these items are easily grindable even for young folk.
Well, the only ways to grind Dubious Testimony are to stay in certain professions below the highest tier, draw a lot of cards for Criminal Favours into Implausible Penance, or get a lot of gift boxes. It's one of the rarer items even if doesn't sell for much, so I consider it valuable!

If the Squid is a guaranteed score, then unless you wanted to send the Rat to someone who can't be sent more mundane Rats, or were really feeling lucky (or reckless), then getting the Squid should be a no-brainer even if you already have something better, because they're worth quite a few Echoes in the Bazaar. Of course, if the Squid is random, then it becomes more chancy, but if you have candles you want to keep, it would be very risky to do anything but give it to the Scuttling Company.
-- Mal
The Scuttling Squid sells for only 10 echoes so if you have one already, or perhaps an item with a slightly different name, that option isn't really worth it.
Also we've never had any reports of the Rat stealing candles outside of the rare success on lighting it.

All is well! I've updated the first post to reflect the change:
Edit, 7th Dec: We've buffed the advent calendar so it works across more browsers! We also filled in the rest of the windows, to address a misunderstanding that it was simply a desktop background. Now you get to hunt and pick at doors to your heart's content.
I see, thanks for clarifying

Hmm, I stand corrected and perhaps losing my left hand. Be advise, the first and second advent windows have grayed out. So it seem we are unable to use past windows with a lag of 5 days or so. I must echo that I stand corrected as well. I was hoping the shoveling would occur on Day 7, but it seems unlikely now. I am still hoping it will happen this week, but we shall see in due time. If it's being replaced by something different, that could be refreshing. Anyway, I found Day 6 to be quite an hilarious advent event, while day 7 with all it's glory is simply spiff. I am torn between getting a squad or risking it for enigmas, but I am leaning towards the squad because they do have a little more use to me in the long run. I'll probably hold off a little bit, but this is quite a treat indeed, especially for newer folks as well.
I also love the light snow touch on the calendar now, looking forward to how it evolves over time. edited by Ridagoth on 12/7/2015
Hrm, the code on the page updated to say "Let it Wax" instead of "Let it Snow."
If you folks keep rewarding us for pulling at every thread, we're going to keep doing it. (This shouldn't sound sinister, but internet, so wanted to clarify it should be read as jovial).
Anyway, the snow on the advent calendar is coded to day > 6 light, day > 13 medium, day > 20 heavy, but the code itself is updated daily.
By the way, I am really liking the the way the calendar is set up, especially the good night choice! I loved seeing the source stuff too with the easter egg in there. My unsubstantiated theory is that snow will come on every Monday in December for everyone regardless of their Time, the Healer. That will lead to everyone getting four pails from Snowbound. We'll just have to wait and see! That would stink for monday people, though. The extra free evenings are a rare treasure- to lose them because it's on their TTH day would be quite irksome. At least, if it's capped at 5 like i remember it being.

I'm also a bit concerned about the lack of snow, it was my favorite part of December in the neath to get both characters TtH without a single flake has me worried. Hopefully whatever is happening back at Failbetter to cause the change will be worth it, they've done fairly well by the game over the years so I expect they've got good reason for the delay

Apologies if I'm missing something, but when I click on the advent code, it takes me to the card's page. When I return to the game, everything is unchanged: there's no trinket, magpie treasure, or something rare in my account. I've now tried three devices. Am I missing something or is the card the only event for day one?
