The Janissary Guard: for perplexed new PoSI

I have gained the designation of a PoSI!
Kinda wondering what to prioritize for now. I've gotten my Tier 2 profession (Author) already (though the faction card). I went ahead and opened up Whitmont's End despite how "expensive" making that bribe was.
I'm thinking I should get to filling in all those new slots, but I don't know if there's a preferred order for doing that or if there's more locations/carousels to unlock that would make crafting those things easier.

Hello, 0bsidian Fire! I'm largely plagiarizing this from Wiwo's answer on the previous page which got bumped:
TLDR: Get yourself the cheapest ship (the Rusty Steamer Tramp) and get as many Bizarre/Dreaded/Respectful items as you can (God's Editors is glorious, and the Young Stags are pretty easy to join.) That way you're equipped to do as many levels of the Notability grind as you'd like. I'd also go for the Screaming Map, because Polythreme is a lot of fun.
I'd also focus on grabbing at least one four-card lodging--five-card lodgings are much cheaper in December.
Mahogany Hall will eventually open a valuable Carousel, and, unlike the other places on the map, you can *only* get there by buying your way in, so there's no need to wait (unless you want to jack up your Persuasive before entering.)
Here's Wiwo:
"I'd look into getting a basic steamer and examining the Bazaar Sidestreets for BDR items you want to make. I'd recommend the Gang of Hoodlums (useful for Casing gain and Criminal favours), the Membership of God's Editors (great BDR), membership of one of the clubs, and possibly the Clay Sedan Chair(good BDR for non-fate-locked and pretty solid opportunity card).
Once you have decent BDR, you can start to work on notability and gaining a better profession.
If possible, you might also want to shoot for at least one 4-card lodgings by December so that you can cheaply convert it to a 5 card lodging at Penstock's Wicket (somewhat complex, ask again closer to the time)."
I think there's probably some good recommendations in the last few pages of this thread, too. Good luck!

I think this fits better here then in the weekly questions thread...
I just pulled An Unsigned Message from the deck and what is currently preventing me from attempting to get my Tier 3 profession is that I have 3 Notability when I need 5. The problem being that I currently have 13 BDR max, so getting enough Making Waves for the next two points will probably take some time. I'm wondering if I should purposely grind Making Waves or let them accumulate though normal play/cards.
Or if I should discard An Unsigned Message and wait for the next time it comes around by which time my stats will probably be better.

I have a newly-minted POSI that was in exactly the same position as you this week (had the Unsigned Message card in my hand and all), and I went from Murderer to Licentiate after only a couple of days. Getting to 5 Notability is really quick and easy. The only POSI item she has is the gang of Hoodlums (no Orphanage or Salon), and the best BDR she can manage is nine.
I did the thing where you exchange 50 of one item for 51 of another and it all goes around in a giant circle. At certain points you pick up Making Waves. Just did that for a few days (can't remember exactly how many but it was only three or four). Didn't even really feel like a grind. Easy peasy!

To get from Notability 3 to 4, you'll need 32-13 = 19 Making Waves in one week. That's very doable. To lock it down, I recommend social actions: hosting dinners for another player is great, coffee invites to Caligula's add up pretty nicely, and there's an option in the Shuttered Palace--going on a walk with the young folk (can't remember title) that gives you 1 CP of Making Waves each action. Also, if you've started to get the "Attend a Party" card, that's a good source. Dante's grill is another really good option. The Wiki should have some more choices.
Then you'll need 23 Making Waves to get Notability 5, but also quite doable. I went from N6 to N7 with essentially no effort.
