Is Concord Square newish content? I don't remember thieving from constables.

Speaking of Concord Square, is it available for those already embroiled in the Wars of Illusion who chose not to reset the shadowy storyline? I can't see a way to start the heist in such a situation (the old two are in their place), but I may be missing something...

Me. First and only heist I ever did, so I could get Counting the Days with fixed storylets for First City Coins. I thought about tanking my Connected: Hell and failing that on purpose to go to jail without getting a criminal record, but now... *bleargh*
Too much grinding.

Same here - albeit repeatedly! Zareen has only ever stolen from the Brass Embassy. She's not very fond of them. smile

What exactly am I supposed to be proceed with if I'm at 1 master thief and chose to start at the flit? Grind up Master Thief to 5 I'd assume?

Shadowy is really confusing compared to the other attribute plotlines.

You're right, grind up the Master Thief quality to 5. Think of it like the Dangerous tracker and Black Ribbon Duels. It's similar to building up Fearsome Duelist to 5 to unlock the next part. So for Whispered in Darkness, just keep doing thefts in Flit (by building up your Casing and choosing a target) that increase your Master Thief quality (like when you reach 2, 'Steal the Carnival Strong Box' won't improve it anymore and you need to move onto a higher tiered theft opportunity) and you will see what unlocks next once Master Thief reaches 5. I hope this helps. smile

One of the changes that is connected to this I find kind of odd. Before sell information (and a bunch of the other options) were on the main page for The Flit. Now they are under The Big Score: Choose a Target. Baring the extra clicks required (especially since you are kicked out to the main page every time) I find it odd that you unlock The Big Score at Casing 5, but sell information is still unlocked at Casing 3. So you need 2 more casing to get to sell information than you need to sell information...

Yeah, as soon as the Master Thief touches 5, the quirk storylet opens and your Name Whispered in Darkness increases to 5. Bit of a grind, but if you aim for tougher robberies, the Master Thief quality increase quite quick.

The link from the casing-gaining storylet in the Flit to the "Begin the Heist" storylet seems to use an action, unlike other links between main-level storylets. I assume that's unintended.

I think it's a bit weird that in the final negotiating stage between various criminal parties you have to A) choose to favour one of them or B) push your own suit. Wouldn't... wouldn't a sufficiently shadowy person / someone with a sense of fair play just attempt to mediate fairly?

Other than that: neat!

If I might quote the incomparable Hoban Washburne:
"Sweetie, we're crooks. If everything were right, we'd be in jail."

The choice of whom to pick in the mediation tore me apart.
Part of me wanted The Cheery Man, because he's got his fingers in so many delicious criminals pies I want a taste of. Favouring the Cheery Man opens up a lot of doors in various storylets, and I definitely want a piece of those.
But the Raggedy Man is such a tragic figure. and a fellow Marvelous player. Not to mention that, living so close to the ceiling of the Neath puts him in the advantageous position of hearing all kinds of wild words. His good opinion could definitely be helpful with all kinds of Neathy lore.
Ultimately I had to side with my favorite Fallen London character: me.

I'm just sad that no other players could have chosen to side with me.

Clearly, we have too many regular heists available to have another one be a regular option...

I chose to replay the bats/cats/wars of illusion. I did a round of it in the Flit, siding with the cats, which sent me to Mahogany Hall for the next stage. I played through one series of choices there, and now there are no options in that storyline, either in the Flit or in Mahogany Hall.

I had Master Thief of 5 and Wars of Illusion 20 before the Shadowy changes came along, but I wanted to replay the Wars of Illusion.

What am I missing?

Edited for clarity.

I agree, it would be a nice option to have. If it's not too demanding to implement in regular play, that would help people experience a new location that they could easily miss should their tracker quality be 6 or 7 when making their initial decision. I'm not too sure if people would grind it though, the rewards are ok. One of them has it's uses here and there anyway. Regardless, it is new content and new text so that's something.

I'm sure the Brass Embassy Raid influenced that writing concept.

I wonder, how much of the content has really changed? When Making Your Name: Dangerous went live, I decided to redo the Black Ribbon Society, and it seemed that nothing had changed there.
With Shadowy, I am a bit torn. On the one hand, I would love to play through the new content (and especially to steal from constables ...), but n the other hand, I don't want to redo all the content I have seen already.
So, would anyone hazard a guess, how much new content there is? 10%? A quarter? Half?
I can't give a comfortable new content guess, since I am only on Whispered in Darkness 6, thus working on Wars of Illusion (and I never did it completely before the tracker because I put it on hold), but I would suggest starting off from Whispered in Darkness 5 (fifth tier) to experience the new Heist content if you remember or don't want to do old early content (but this means redoing Wars of Illusion). The new stuff that offer an unique quality and item is the Toast at end of Whispered in Darkness 1 -> 2 and the Penny Dreadful at the end of Whispered in Darkness 4 -> 5, which should be auto-unlocked to choose if you pick a high tier like 5, 6, or 7 (picking tier 2-4 should unlock just the Toast quality). I do not have personal experience with what auto-unlocks at what tier because I chose to start from the beginning, so I am making an educated guess. There is some new in-between event which I can't be sure will be auto-unlocked which is A Lofty Invitation (going from Whispered in Darkness 3 -> 4 the regular way), but that won't give any unique qualities/items, it just contributes to quirk changes mainly (but all the checkpoints offer great Shadowy boosts). It's up to you, but if you want to minimize how far you go back, the fifth tier seems like the best fit for you since you really want to try out the Heist at Concord Square. If your Master Thief is near 5, you can easily just choose the third tier, quickly do the A Lofty Invitation (only need 1k Jade and Flit unlocked), just do one or two high tier thefts to get to 5 and get a Penny Dreadful to go to the fifth tier for the Heist (you need Master Thief at 5 to advance the normal way, which will be a grind if it's low). Also, remember what you did in Wars of Illusion since you will have to redo it to go from Whispered in Darkness 6 to 7, or part of it anyway. In my case, my Wars of Illusion quality was at 6 before the tracker, and it keeps everything from 9 and below with the tracker if you choose the 6th tier or below (picking tier 6 or 7 locks you from doing the Concord Square Heist, as I learned in this thread). I hope this helps. smile
If you aren't stat-capped in Shadowy I'd highly recommend redoing all the early content for the massive CP gains. Shadowy is definitely less grindy than Dangerous; I managed getting from Whispered in Darkness 1 to 5 with one candle's worth of actions or so.
