Aside from the Moon League token you also need to be in the Moon League for the Golden Hunts to get those Assassin of Assassin awards. But like you suggest, it would be easier to qualify for those Golden Hunts if you could keep your Proud Parade of Victories from the Iron League when returning to the Moon League.
I have no reason to doubt the people in this thread who said that people now lose their Proud Parade of Victories when joining the Moon league, but you could try it yourself by leaving the Moon League after you've lost a hunt, get a 'streak' of 1 x Proud Parade of Victories in the Iron League, then join the Moon League to see if you get to keep it or not. Then report the result to the wiki.

Switching leagues does force you to wait for a Sense of Urgency though. I know the Chrysalis Candle can't give you a form when you don't have one and I think the same is true for the opp card options.

I'm pretty sure that the lodgings and other opportunity cards provide full access to attacks and forms. And for someone who (presumably) already has all three 4-card lodgings, that's a lot of opportunities to take a form or stab people. As far as I know the candles are the only source of form-change that are restricted to only those who already have a form.

Plenty of options for reset openings.
