Raising Hell (to 50) Messages in this topic - RSS

I do not have a four-card residence with this faction yet and (based with what I already have) it would be easier to take the Buy a Brass Embassy Guest Room from your Infernal friends option. However, getting Devils to 50 is a tad long without a storyette option. Is the best option Building up Casing and selling it to Devils, or is there a more practical way (once I'm above 20 of course) to bump this up to 50 (like what I can do with Bohemians and Society in Shuttered Palace?)

According to the Wiki I think that's the best way to raise Hell. However, if you're up for a Polite Invitation then bring some Infernal Contracts with you.

EDIT: My mistake, i thought you were talking about revolutionaries. I don't know for hell connections. Raising hell sounds more like the revolutionaries than the devils, at least to me.

Reaping the academic benefits? That's Society, Bohemians, and Revolutionaries.

Oh, that was a response to Grenem, not a suggestion. I personally would stick with Selling Casing to Hell if you aren't a spirifer.

Turn over plenty of cards, too; Selling Casing is only 11.25 CP of Connected per action, but every time you can favor Hell in a conflict card against the Church or Urchins you'll get 30 CP.

The Polite Invitation can get you 125 for each party if you bring along a bottle of Broken Giant and draw the Brass Ambassador card twice; the first time (at the first action of the party) will get you Infernal Contracts to use the second time (at the last action of the party). Unfortunately it'll take at least 7 actions (or 9 if you're a Knife-and-Candler) but that's still a better rate of Hell connection per action than Casing, so it's worth doing when you can, at least if you have enough Broken Giant lying around. (You can get some more by gambling with footmen at the party too, if you time it during the middle of the party so as not to miss the Ambassador at the beginning/end.)

If I am a Sprifter (as in very recently decided I paid Fate for that for the Souls outcome later,) can you Spoiler what I should also do? I'm a very new one on this.

Yeah, read that after my posting elsewhere, so I shall be doing that and the conflict options of course.

Okay, this is not the fastest way to get your Hell connection up, but it's certainly the most profitable way:
Unfinished Business in Spite will give you an average of 60 souls per action, and giving 1,000 souls to Hell's Fence in Ladybones road will give you 3,000 Nevercold Brass Slivers and 2 Appalling Secrets in addition to 30 CP of Connected:Hell.
So in about 18 actions you get 30 CP and 1.72 epa, while the Gang of Hoodlums option will give you 90 CP in 8 actions. It's your choice on whether you want to get it done fast or profitably.

Thanks, between that, the Flit and Unfinished Business in Spite, I have my Brilliant Soul Grind options as well. I'm not in a rush, but will use the consistent methods to raise the connection. I'm around 28 connected at the moment.
But I have to draw in Ladybones Road for that Fence card, right?

Oh, I guess I missed a step in the story. I thought it was done with acquiring the fork. Thanks.

I think it's over once you get the fork? The storylet requires Merchant of Souls 5.

I got the fork but was only at 4 for Merchant of Souls. it seems I needed to go to Watchmaker's Hill and do The Hospice. At least now I see what was missing. Oh well, it raised my Hell another rank so it's all good.

Ah, okay. Glad you were able to figure out the next step - it's been too long since I've done it to be very helpful in the specifics.
Thanks for the help on that!

(Not only will it help with buying the room, but afterwards, now I virtually have all the clothing/the Scuttering Squad Companions one can buy, I will soon have to start grinding for my first Overgoat. That trade will significantly help.)

But for now I'll just focus on Hell connection and Brilliant Souls...and stockpiling for next season's Noman building.

It seems that your can also get a lot of infernal favor by giving the Embassy a lot of souls.

  • I just wanted to thank everybody here for their advice and support. I finally drew the proper connection card and got my main character's last 4-card room! The 5 Aeolian screams came at a great time, considering the upcoming holiday (and the Uncanny Incunabulum is nothing to sneeze at either.) In case if anybody is interested and has not gotten this before, I echoed the text to my main character's journal.
