Are they being drawn like parallels to the Major Arcana, like one is the Fool and one the Tower? Or just in the style of the cards? I like the idea of dream cards though. Maybe something about mirrors? :?

They're just in the style of cards. In addition to EBZ I was inspired by the Abarat books and a number of other fantasy works where tarot decks in other worlds contain cards very different to the ones in ours. The Abaratan deck contains cards like "the door to the stars" "the daughter of curiosity" "the man lit by candles" and "the tree of knowing". Madame Shoshana's deck in ebz contains "the blacksmith" "the boat" and "the gibbet." This deck belongs to unwritten fantasy/steampunk world that most if not all my artwork belongs to.

RE mirrors: Any idea how hard it is to convincingly draw a mirror? haha actually the main reason I left it out is to only use the five that are from The WasteLand poem.

Definently, who's familiar with the Venus effect? Whe the subject of a painting is a person admiring a mirror, the face of the person is often shown even from angles where it shouldn't be. Its an interesting psychological effect, I am endlessly fascianted by the fact that the incorrect way of drawing something looks more "right" to us than the correct way. This is used in movies all the time, because it allows you to film a character looking into a mirror without also getting the reflection of the camera crew. That was random art trivia of the day.

Nice charcter Al! I like the hollow (sorrow-spider taken?) eyes and the incredibly cute bat.

That is one fantastic cameo. Both in concept and execution.

Here's a picture of my character I did a while ago (sorry about the hugeness)

I've got a few other sketches lying around, but I'm not sure what I've done with them.

Looks like a young Fester from the Addams family, nice Cameo, I like the background details.

From the diary of Jack Owlfisher: I am writing this from the luxury of my room at the Western Tower of the Brass Embassy, and I can't help but feelnig a bit contemplative. I used to be an intellectual, y'know? I used to tour the Forgotten Quarter, looking for the secret of the Correspondence, and before that, I would anter Ladybones road, lost in some anchient volume of forgotten lore. Then something happened, and I feel more like a shadowy black cat than I do a wise owl. Somewhere along the way, I got a taste for the more carnal pleasures in life. And I wonder, have I lost something of what I used to be? Hell no! I can't believe I was such a bookworm back before I lost my soul, life is so much simplier now, and I am glad for it. I have almost gotten over the heartache from my fallen lover. Almost being the key word...

A sketch of Elanor writing at home with Little Dorrit keeping her company:

For the amount of research I went through to try to get a true "Victorian" look, Elanor sure doesn't look like it; most fashion plates at the time portrayed clothing that I couldn't imagine people ever wearing at home when they actually had to do things other than stand still. I even gritted my teeth and laced myself down to twenty inches to try to get an idea of how a corseted figure would look from the side, but it looked just so wrong to the modern aesthetic I couldn't go through with it.

(Oh, and I'm going to exist in the world of denial where the game is currently in the year 1880 and not 1890. 1880 had such prettier dresses as opposed to 1890 where leg o' mutton sleeves actually got to the size of a leg of mutton and collars looked like their sole purpose in life was to strangle you.)

This is the Neath, darling! We don't trouble ourselves with those silly surface fashions. Look terrible by candlelight and all that.

In compensation, we've got hats heavy as iron (because they're, uh... MADE of iron), and hats whose sole purpose in life is to devour your brain!

Seriously though - three decades have passed since London went to the Neath (revolutionaries say it's been "stolen"). As lady just remarked, fashion has since taken a distinctly peculiar turn, confronted to Surface trends.
