No clue! But I'd like it if each was a way to equip items that would maximise a particular stat. For instance: Morning = Watchful, Evening = Persuasive, Hard-wearing = Dangerous, Incognito = Shadowy.

I have a screenshot that I shall condescend to give to the lowly mortals (though I am not actually a Hesperidean, also I kid, have a screenshot):

EDIT: This only appeared for about two minutes, if, and switching between them didn't seem to have any effect. It took me a bit to realise this wasn't an update to the browser extension FL Wardrobe. edited by Cecil on 10/28/2015

Interesting - I wonder if it might be something to do with a way to quick change your outfit with each option representing a stat.

Sorry RL means I am not a very active player at the moment. No social actions unless you are prepared to wait and definitely no sparring or other mult-action things.
No Calling Cards or boxed cats please. Will take dupes on the affluent photographers. Other social invitations welcome. Parabolan Kittens usually available, send me an in-game social action saying you want one and I will get one to you as soon as possible.

Affirmative. Those are customizable loadout bookmarks. You are free to compose them in the way you like, though you have only four of them and it is not likely that you can change their names. One more note: they work for both regular and expanded item slots. edited by Andrew Astherson on 10/28/2015

Nice update! Though I wish I had a fifth loadout for drawing cards, since I try to adjust my menaces to either qualify or not qualify for certain cards.

I've seen this on my end, and done a little bit of testing - and yes, it's a wardrobe quick-change option! You need to load in your inventory for each slot after selecting which outfit to wear, and the drop-down list seems to appear in alphabetical order (which confused me when it showed up with Morning as my primary outfit but was then at the bottom of the list afterwards)
This seems especially handy, as I won't have to change items one-by-one anymore if I want to quickly equip Normal / Bizarre / BDR / etc outfits.
Thankyou for the update, Failbetter Games! :-D

Really nice, it seems to be faster than Dressing Room. Unless I need to switch to my B/D/R kit, this is a quicker alternative for stat-specific gear.
Edit: If you want to make me really ecstatic Failbetter, place it on the story tab, above or below the Oppdeck edited by Thorbimorbi on 10/28/2015

I don't understand why they used those titles. Incognito and Hard-Wearing are obvious, but the other two are a bit arbitrary and a matter of opinion.

It's so you have outfit options that are appropriate for various events and times of day, including either your Faded Morning Suit or your Magnificent Midnight-Blue Evening Gown (but not both at once).

Personally, I think there should be a Fifth slot labeled "Notable" that is a loadout for BDR items.

I think "evening suit" is rather obvious. Well, it became obvious after I learned what it's for in Ishar 2.

Morning and evening wear are established codes of dress. Morning dress is comparatively restrained, and is what the upper echelons would wear to work. Evening dress is what they'd wear to dinner and dancing, and tends to involve more plunging necklines and elaborate bows.

Thanks, but I take issue with the purpose of the labels. They're meant to title sets of items that boost your stats, so the titles should reflect the stats they boost (Watchful, etc). As it is, they're labeled to represent occasions when they might be useful. Take Evening, for example. One person might associate Evening with Shadowy due to the amount of shadows at night, and how useful it can be at night. Another person might associate Evening with Persuasive, due to the social activities that happen at night. It's not intuitive, because these generalized labels can mean different things to different people.

I like that you can do whatever you want with the labels. The outfits don't have to be watchful, shadowy, persuasive or dangerous. They are just shortcuts so you can have one for BDR if you want; one for a balanced outfit; or another to maximise or minimise a stat. Of course there are more possible variations of the outfits you might want than labels but it is your choice.

As far as I can see, they are almost certainly not *meant* for that. FB are certainly aware that it's a likely way people would design their outfits and have chosen the names to make thematic sense in most (but certainly not all) cases. But the outfits are are not *tied* to that purpose.

In fact, they are mostly useless for that purpose, because you have to mangle one of them every time you want to dress for some *other* purpose (like BDR, or hallowmas menaces, or reducing stats for larger XP gains, or reducing suspicion when you need to avoid jail, or ...)
