Does anyone know what makes Google index some journal but not others? Lots and lots of journal entries are accessible via google but *none* of mine are. Not a single one.
And if not Google is there another way to search your journal for past entries? I know there is nothing in-engine but perhaps some clever work-around I haven't considered....

I'd assume that Google mostly indexes journals that are linked to a lot, so people with a lot of posts and links in their signature or such would show up far more often and higher on the list.
Just to make sure, you don't have your profile set as private, right? That's the checkbox below your mantlepiece item on your Myself tab.
