Just as the topic suggests, this is a thread for those individuals of rich imagination, who enjoy in-game roleplay and wishes to find partner(s) in this kind of activity. To save your delicious time and nerves I will explain the purpose and "rules" of this thread in Q&A form.
Q: Is there any reason to create this thread / Aren't there other samely-purposed topics already existing ? A: Role players usually create separated threads in the "Mr. Page's Fabularities" branch of forum to find partners. All those topics are separated, mighty share of them are outdated (original posters already left the game leaving people to practice forum necromancy), they may come in different style forms, which is not very good for cataloging. That is why I thought that the formatted directory-type thread may come in handy for people involved or interested in roleplay.
Q: How does it work in general ? A: It works the same way as advertisement boards. The sole difference is that you advertise your character(s) instead of previously used Volkswagen "beetle".
Q: Let's suppose that I am interested. What do I need to do ? A: Consider leaving your post (written and composed in desirable form) or/and seek for others players posts to contact them in-game and begin your mutual RP adventure.
Q: So how does that "desirable form" look like ? / Give me the fulfilling rules, please. A: Here you have it, my good man / madam / ehm... whatever.
---------------------------- - Charactrer x name with a link - character's x short description (1-3 sentences, please) - Character y name with a link - character y description (1-3 sentences) - Character n+1 name with a link - character n+1 description (1-3 sentences) - Notes + personal comments (0-5 sentences) ---------------------------- The first post in this topic will serve you as an example. And now to the rules !
1) Please, leave only one post. 2) Keep it short and avoid story spoilers. 3) If you want to change something in your post then edit it's contents. 4) If you want to "push" your post up then create a new one -> fill it with the contents from the old one or write it anew -> delete the previous (outdated) post, please. 5) Heed the general forum rules while posting (which is obvious).
Q: How do I know that the player I want to play with is still active ? A: There are few ways to find that out: check his/her/its game profile - if it is visible and contains recent journal entities then it is a good sign; check the forum profile of the person that interests you - recent log-in and posts is also a good sign; write him/her/it and wait for a reply to know for sure.
Q: I want to enrich my character(s) description(s) with some details. What should I do in such case ? A: There are two threads in "Mr. Page's Fabularities" where people describe their character(s) appearance and backstory. Post there first and link those posts with your character(s) "advertising" here. Remember - Properly described characters are absolutely delicious. And do not forget to fulfill "they say" line in your character(s) profile
Q: The person I contacted earlier does not reply. Help ! A: That person may be absent / inactive / slow to reply. Or their character(s) may not like yours and be rude and snobbish enough to ignore them entirely (yes, such things happen sometimes, but do not lose your sprit and seek for another person(s)).
That's all for now. I hope that this thread will help you to find delicious RP partners, and I am looking forward to see many of you in-game !
Oh, I think I have a last-minute advice for all willing to listen: though it is flattering to be addressed, it will be more reliable if you contact the other player instead of waiting to be contacted. edited by Andrew Astherson on 12/9/2015

Daedalus Falk has published a wide variety of stories, plays, and ballets, all of which have caused varying degrees of public outcry and scandal. He likes to put “Legendary Calumnist” on all his business cards, and cares deeply for his prize racing slug. A selection of his other works include: Mushrooms: An Ode (short story) Terror on Watchmaker’s Hill: The Jack o’ Smiles Case (nonfiction) From Street Urchin to Sheet Urchin (novel; theatrical adaptation forthcoming) Would it really be appropriate to call the Royal Bethlehem a hotel, given that I did not receive any variety of mint-flavored candy upon the pillow of the bed in the room I rented; I was unable to locate the Manager until I underwent a series of dangerous trials at great hazard to life and limb; the Rubbery Janitor appeared to use his own body-produced slime to make it appear as if he was actually working when in fact no work was being accomplished since he remained in one place; the Receptionist seemed to have a flippant attitude given her hand motions when she talked to customers which is most unbecoming of any kind of a professional occupation in which one interacts with people other than certain kinds of actors and musicians given the fact that, as the old adage goes, the customer is always right; and on top of all this there was a state of general confusion and disorder throughout my entire stay there (although I will admit that the price can’t be beaten if you’re currently insane)? (nonfiction; co-authored with Robert Mobb) The Flute Street Floozies (ballet) Mr. Sacks! Take my virginity! (musical theatre; performances banned by order of the Ministry of Public Decency)

Absimiliard the Elder
Absimiliard is a scandalous individual with a magnanimous nature and an insatiable interest in secrets, cats, mirrors, and the Duchess. They were once a Zailor at Zea, though almost nothing could compel them to face that Terror again. If you move in social circles you are likely to encounter them in scarlet stockings, glad rags, and a modish bonnet doing terribly entertaining, fun, and tremendously scandalous things. If you move in . . . "quieter" circles you are most likely to encounter them in a bowler hat and practical suit investigating some affair. No matter who you are you may well find yourself in the street watching them saving a life, dashing into burning building then racing up the stairs to fetch a crying babe from a fiery death is quite in-character.

Notes: I'm here mostly for two reasons; firstly, I love role-playing, second, I come from the Sunless Sea and I simply MUST learn more of the Lore, this world is just f____g awesome. I'm most likely to reply on a daily basis (possibly bar weekends, depends on the weekend), though exceptional friends of my character may garner many more responses than that. I'm perfectly as willing to explore via RP two people becoming close friends as I am to explore two people meeting each other and coming over time to discover they hate each other passionately, and if your character is at all ophidian in nature that's where we're going. And, please, if we go down the second route towards enmity let's be certain to keep in in-character, I regard you all as MY friends (not my characters) and I do not wish to endanger that.

Elias has gone through leaps and bounds since I last posted so this seems a more appropriate intro for him. I still do like to role-play and I've got plenty of Free Evenings to spare. And I loiter. Suspiciously, more often than not.
No-one really expected this man to come shambling out of the dark, nameless and faceless, and transform the worst rookery in London into a fortress with the goal of... community outreach? No, you read that right. Formerly a thief and murderer (of the permanent variety), he began an organization by the name of The Flowerdene Initiative, opening schools and orphanages across the city.
The man himself? Far from unremarkable. He likes coffee. He enjoys poetry and literary discussions. He is often accompanied by a corpse being controlled by a sentient fungus named Ezekiel. He is a fan of the opera.
There is and will always be an essential part of him that will be forever lost. It is evident almost as soon as you meet him; Elias Lowe II is more scar than man.

The Six Handed Merchant: Private detective, social progressive, scandal monger, Soul Shepherd, orphanage patron/matron, Correspondent, Mycologene aficionado, unionist, vigorously-censored author, radical Bohemian, free thinker, spider whisperer, honey-dreaming hedonist, lover of all types, Extraordinary Mind.
If it's truth you seek, The Six Handed Merchant is the gentlemen-, er, lady-, er, detective you need! Just pay no mind to that Eradication Officer tailing Six: that poor fellow is simply out of his mind!
Stories about Six:
- They Walk Among Us (SPOILER WARNING Do not read if you want to discover Six's surprising character secrets via in-game RP)
- The Ones You Love (Insight into one of Six's more varied romantic relationships: a nemesis/lover. No major spoilers)
- The Nadir: Urchin Exhange (Six making a deal with the Urchins. Some spoilers for Cave of the Nadir)
Q&A: (SPOILERS Do not read if you want to discover Six's secrets via in-game RP.)
How many hands does Six really have?
Only two, actually. "Six-Handed" is a subtle reference to spiders (six hands + two feet = eight limbs).
How does Six feel about...eyes?
Six learned from the Soft-Hearted Widow that it is wrong to take eyes from the unwilling or the manipulated. They believe that all eyes should be given out of love, and hope against hope to one day spread their enlightened views to the other councils.
Have they ever taken anyone's eyes?
No, as Six has no intention to settle down and raise a family yet.
How does Six fit in their clothes?
While spider councils can grow quite large, Six is only a juvenile council.
In the story HOJOHOTO, we see a pile of tiny baby sorrow-spiders briefly form a human-shaped council. Six is composed of juvenile (smaller than dinner plate sized) sorrow-spiders that have yet to meld together, so they are still flexible and able to form a human shape.
Six also has a plan to maintain their shape as well: they rotate the spiders that are part of their council. When juveniles get too large (and risk melting together) those "longshanks" spiders are sent out of the council to find others to permanently join. And new young spiders are regularly invited into the council. This keeps Six the same size, and maybe with enough of their spiders going to other councils, Six will be able to spread their unique ideology of only taking eyes out of love.
So in some ways, Six is the spider council equivalent of a revolutionary urchin gang.
How does Six do anything scandalous considering what their body is like?
Very carefully! Fortunately, Victorian London was quite restrained physically. Kissing is fine as their mask includes a mouth and human dentures. And more scandalous activities can be worked around in creative ways that keep people from examining the skin suit in any detail. It would be untoward to describe here, but let's just say that Six is good with knots.
Feedback is always welcome I am also happy to join in all kinds of roleplaying, from brief social actions, to one-on-one roleplaying sessions, and RP groups, both in forums, on Discord, or in game. My schedule is very full, so please PM me OOC if interested and we will work out the details to make sure we're on the same page first. Once we work out the details, I usually respond to SAs at least once a week.

Pyrodinium - male; Lawful Neutral - A ruthless Monster hunter but is quite magnanimous to his friends and remaining family members. Tends to be quite excitable when you're talking about killable stuff. He's prone to melancholic fits though when he remembers his past (Nemesis),
Rudolph of Taured - indeterminate gender; Chaotic Neutral - A bit young, it seems that they are of rubbery lineage which makes communication quite difficult. Tends to shuffle about and quite distrustful of the "pretty ones" (Society) and "hurtful men" (Constable). Very sympathetic to "bandages" (Tomb Colonists), "family" (Rubbery Men) and "little ones" (Urchins). Loves shiny stuff (Light Fingers)

Heck, RP's part of what introduced me to FL to begin with.
Hotshot Blackburn is a dandy: a displaced gentleman with the airs of a fop whose gaudy clothing is bedecked by countless colourful ribbons brighter than the Surface. He is a mercenary: a sporting marksman with an elephant gun who loves the thrill of the hunt and the sometimes fatal, sometimes friendly relationship between hunter and beast. He is an idealist: a naive fool who writes trashy egalitarian rhetoric about being nice to one another, who bandies about with Rubbery Men, Anarchists, and recently Snuffers.
He is starting to get dangerous ideas about saving people.
(Note: I log on regularly and make every best effort to reply within a day, two if on the occasional zee-trip. It tends to be a combination of 'in the moment' and 'actual message', so just let me know if that's not your thing. I might be delayed at the moment, but that should clear up by Wednesday!)

Roleplaying is probably one of the most interesting things that can be done with this wonderful setting. So:
William Harley is a writer, and therefore a liar, but is also a charmer, and therefore his lies are not always of the good kind.
As a bohemian, his past is less than spectacular, in fact one could say it is quite turbid, undignified in his attempts at climbing the social ladder. He's made stepping stones of people before. As a libertine and seeker of glory, he often sells his ability with words and smiles to the highest bidder, and has finally reached the Empress' court, where he carefully allows everybody to believe that he's always been what he now seems: a welcomed and lavish member of society. As an artist, he is enamoured with stories and beauty and he'd sell his soul to be remembered for the words he has written.
He tries to annihilate his miserable past self, but it is difficult to kill all shreds of intellectual honesty that have managed to survive within his mercenary spirit.
(Notes:
I may be a little slow with replies, but unless our roleplaying is getting very plot and action-heavy, I should manage within a couple days. I log in fairly regularly, usually daily. I am very interested in building stories and relationships on our own, of any kind; exploring that is one of the best parts of roleplaying.
A fair warning that while William may be flirty and ambiguous in nature, I as a writer am not particularly interested in the development of love stories. I count those as a minor part of roleplaying, so if my character manages to successfully woo yours or is allusive and flirtatious, and yours responds positively, please don't take that as a sign that the roleplay can develop in a romantic direction only. William may write romance, but he's not so inclined to be part of a serious one himself.
I am very flexible when it comes to the kind of character I want to write with! All types and social standings are welcome. William may be interested in high society, but I fully intend to write with anybody. We can figure it out.
To write with me, message me here for some organisation or send me a letter/calling card directly in-game. The former method is preferred to decide a setting.) edited by MrHarley on 2/20/2016 edited by MrHarley on 2/20/2016

Vivien Wormwood
"Of revels and honey-dens, salons and soirees, V.V.W. is a habitué. But at each debauch, why do his thoughts seem elsewhere?"
He's slight, elegantly-dressed, well-groomed but severely underslept. A Scholar of the Correspondence, Seeker of the Name, and Mycologene, the writer has delved too deeply into the darker sides of the Neath, and not come out the better for it.
Wormwood is a sensitive, charming, and friendly fellow... but not a good one.

Morkan Kassington (Chaotic Good)
Morkan's the flirty daredevil down here in search of adventure. He has delusion of grandur and is ultimately convinced that he is The Gentleman. And that the ladies of London will succumb to his charisma as he tries everything from playing detective to hunting animals to being an artist. He takes fellow men lightly, something he will soon regrets. Even though he is impatient and flighty, he still have a sense of justice and isn't prone to cruelty.
I usually reply weekly. If you can't tell, Morkan's one of these comedic playboy, so take him with a grain of salt. Gentlemen (and those of neither genders too), feel free to ruin his days as actual ladies ignore him. edited by Morkan Kassington on 2/10/2016

Amelia Syrus Appearance: [ X X ] Backstory
A drunken thief of dubious quality, starting to make her name from the depths of shadows and her fighting prowess. A goaless sort with rage pulsing through her heart and a sharp tongue to match.

Ezekiel is available for role-play anywhere on the forum and often frequents the Inflammatory Salon, but he currently has no ingame persona.
The Corpse-Puppeteer of Flowerdene Rookery. Of course, Ezekiel is not the corpse, it is the fungus that grows inside of it which has for some reason been taught to speak like us and act like us, but it will never be one of us.
In the employ of Caretaker Elias Lowe II, the fungus known as Ezekiel stopped attempting to blend in among us and allowed itself to grow fully, using the calcium of the victims bones to evolve into a more sentient organism, a process which still continues. Though volatile and prone to frightening acts of aggression and cruelty, it has begun to understand why every conversation does not begin with volleys of gunfire.
Know this, there is a reason why Ezekiel exist here and it is the only one that understands that reason. If others knew, it could spell disaster for all of London.

Anatasia Swansong (Chaotic Good) - A brash and proud young lady of considerable talent and beauty. Is starting to learn the word "humility".
Backstory here.
Having lived among minor nobles and merchants in the past, she was raised to be prim and proper and rebelled against it. Not enough to be streetwise, so she remained a young woman that grew up on romantic adventures except she can fence and do investigations.
In the Neath, she works with Constables closely, although several of her patrons had considerable influence on her that she focuses on the truly malicious instead of easy pickings. Her rough-and-tumble surroundings, combined with the praise she received in her past, made her somewhat overconfident both in ability and appearance. She also occasionally writes books out of cases she has dealt with before, to a warm reception with the Constables.
She does not enjoy academic activities, but she makes token effort. While she is not brutal, she is very direct in dealing with problems and subterfuge is not her strength.
I try to reply within two days. edited by Lisbella Peridot on 2/20/2016

Hello all, I play Anactoria St James, a new arrival in London. She came to the Neath to find the murderer of her cousin; and, although she is intimidated by how very different Fallen London is from the Surface, she has an inner strength that will see her through … maybe. I’d like to roleplay storylines that help me flesh out Anactoria’s character and how she changes overtime.
I envision Anactoria, at this point, as kind; variably shy and brave, intimidated and bold; determined, somewhat naïve (especially in Neathy matters); (mostly) law abiding; a friend of Urchins; and a friend of animals. I’m particularly interested in scenes that show her making friends, exploring Neathy things, and, occasionally, engaging in Dangerous adventures.
Thank you!

Canvas Blank is a private investigator maintaining a low profile in the Neath. That's not to say he hasn't collected a lot of contacts; Londoners from both the high places and low come to him for help with private affairs, whether it's keeping an eye on someone's suspiciously-acting significant other for the evening, a thorough excavation of someone's history or even an occasional poisoning. He dislikes being around fake smiles and the posh folk of London and prefers the company of the Fallen London's outcasts, such as the Rubbery and the Bandaged. Aside from his detective work, he is also a committed agent of the Great Game, both pulling heaps of strings from his shack-like office at Wilmot's End and doing large amounts of the field work himself.
He prefers secrets, mysteries and knowledge over materialistic wealth and can thus be seen often deciphering the secrets of Wilmot's End and the Forgotten Quarter, immersing himself in the Fingerwork and studying Mirrors and the Correspondence. He is also known for the work he does in the name of the Masters - Especially Mr Pages, though the nature of his connection to the Masters remains unknown.
His transition from the Surface to the Neath has not been an easy one; He is relying on Sunlight-filled Mirrorcatch boxes in order to remain sane, a self-destructive habit he has developed in his time in London. Clinging onto the past, he collects postcards containing any sight of the Surface or anything remotely connected to the world above. He will always appreciate a Calling Card and is never the one to turn down a contact, so why don't you drop one off? edited by Canvas Blank on 12/26/2017

Hello, delicious friends! I do some light role-play. My name is Sam Stephens, and I'm a Correspondent of little importance. While I've dabbled in everything from archaeology to zailing, my chiefest interest is untangling the mysteries of the universe through the practice of natural philosophy. My time of late has been dominated by my work with the Dilmun Club, but as long as I remain in London, I find plenty of time to keep in touch with my contacts. Pleased to make your acquaintance, and I hope to hear from you soon!

I'm open to all non-menacing social actions. I particularly enjoy a good mystery. I'm also a Corespondent who can teach at your Orphanage.

The Cosmopolitan: Student (not quite scholar) of the Correspondence. Scholarly type: polymath and skilled linguist. Sometime author and musician. Doctor and medical historian on the surface. Can be melancholy and despondent at times, but mostly friendly, if slightly crotchety. Will always welcome guests with a cup of tea or a glass of whatever’s in the liquor cabinet and an observation on the subject that’s been occupying their mind for the day.

Who is Verity Foxgrove? Nobody of much importance; another amateur antiquarian, mediocre markswoman and uncommitted diletantte. How did a parson's daughter end up in the Neath? Don't ask about the Fitzwilliam Museum and why she's banned from it. Don't ask about accidentally shooting the provost of Trinity College. Fallen London is full of opportunities for a student of ancient mysteries. It's a good place to make a name, stake a career.. and get into a whole heap of trouble in the process.

Copperhead Jake: Stoic private eye from across the Atlantic. Puts up a facade of ruthlessness, but is relatively gentle to most. He has a soft spot for children, for reasons no one quite comprehends they seem to like his as well.
After spending some time in London in relative solitude, it has come to his attention that perhaps doing everything on your own isn't always the best course of action. Despite his stoic nature he seems accommodating to most, regardless of their differences or lifestyle choices. In spite of his seriousness he seems to be surrounded by increasingly eccentric individuals. Despite seeming exasperated by his accomplices he is appreciative of their acquaintanceship.Perhaps in time he may learn to trust people in the place where relationships can be truly eternal.
Not one for flowery language or abstract thinking, he does seem to posses a certain intellect, as well as sharp sense of perception. He is fascinated scientifically in the nature of the Neath, and spends his spare time studying up and asking around for any information he can find about this new world he inhibits, though he is careful not to investigate anything that could prove too...dangerous.

Honeyaddict:
On the Surface he used to have wealth, which was his downfall, his then lover betray him and sent him to Fallen London, stripping him from his belongings. When he first arrived in London he was thrown into jail, which made him at first wary of anyone and anything. Later he learned the gifts of the shadows, able to move unseen, unheard and make the constables do his bidding without them knowing.
But now he learned once more to love his life. He is much of a Hedonist, but also wishes more than anything that the woman he eyes will notice him. He came down from the surface with nothing, now appears to be either a mere shadow without a sound or as the subject of the evening.
He loves games of chess, enjoying life, treating his sweetheart and drinking coffee.
He does take Protégés under his wing as Invisible Eminence.
tl;dr I have moderate experience role playing and would love to have some more people to role play with, cheers! Long time Fallen London Player (was there at the first elections, then took a break of some years) edited by Honeyaddict on 2/8/2018

Bertrand Lyndon, a former Sergeant of the British Army who was forced to flee to the Neath. He now leads an underground crime ring and trades secrets with most of London's factions. Lyndon is a somewhat cynical man: he cares little for ideals and he's hardly moved by the suffering of others. This does not mean he's needlessly cruel: he cares for his subordinates, and, to a lesser extent, for the well-being of the people of London in general. However, he has no qualms about bloodying his hands to further his plans.

I'm open to all kinds of roleplay, both casual and structured. In the latter case, I prefer to use PMs to discuss the characters and what they might do together, but any system will do (although I tend to use letters sparingly).
One last thing, for the sake of complete honesty: English is not my first language, so I might make mistakes from time to time. edited by Bertrand Lyndon on 2/19/2017

Maude Braun - A flirtatious and eccentric lover of the arts. Spends most of their time in Veilgarden indulging themself and others in Neathy delights. Not a criminal but certainly isn't above picking a pocket or two and is also known to enjoy participating in organized fighting from time to time. Has little recollection of why they originally came to the Neath but doesn't seem to care.
Notes - I'm super casual about roleplay most of the time. PMs are good. Forums and chats, like Discord, are better. My Discord is MAUDunit #0217. I'm a veteran table top gamer, but new to actual RP in Fallen London. Trying to get a feel for it. Been playing it for awhile now. I am playing Lady Caroline Karnstein, a good hearted bohemian who gets along well in society most of the time, but whose hedonistic ways sometimes get in the way of her doing the right thing.
I'm trying to get the hang of social actions right now. Generally happy to RP.

Seeking truth and power in the Neath, Martin has his hands in a good number of affairs. The relevancy of several of the things he's involved in to his goals is questionable, but the rumours of him being able to appear in two places at once make one wonder if any of that matters to him.

Appolonia VonRavenscroft Appolonia is a lady of refined manners and peculiar dreams. To the general public, she is best known as a composer of opera (and a great deal of other poetry), and as the editor of the newspaper The Winding Sheet.
If you’d like to have attended one of her operas, feel free to have done so. A description of a recent opera is here.
Her newspaper is more of a quasi literary magazine, known for its obituaries. Young writers seeking exposure compete to publish the most delicious reports of the deaths of ideas, fashions, and trends. The haunted-eyed publish reports of their most spectacular fantasies of their own deaths.
If you are religious, you may have met her at mass at the Cathedral of St. Fiacre.
If you are bohemian, she is frequently seen in Veilgarden at musical performances and in the honey-dens.
If you are academic, she is known to have published some works on the Correspondence. While not the most esteemed Correspondent in the city, she has a particular expertise in how Correspondence is used by the sorrow spiders and their cultists. She is also known to be a scholar of dreams.
She is approachable through the offices of the paper (should any wish to leave a card), and seems fond of conversation with people from all walks of life. Other approaches reflecting imagination, artistic talent, or daring will likely also work.
Out of character tips: I typically reply to posts several times a day, so I am happy to participate in complex stories. I have participated in more than 1500 pages of posts back and forth with various players. I am comfortable with romantic/adult RP, as part of long-term storylines. I am comfortable with dark stories – horror, grief – as fits the setting. If you aren’t sure, feel free to chat with me out of character. I only participate in forum scenes to which I have been invited in character, or have a very clear premise that the opportunity is easily identified by the general public.

Thaddeus Eaves- Equally comfortable with high society, devils, and urchins, the only thing he truly cares for is the truth. In fact, he is obsessed. It brought him to the Neath, and it will drag him further still. What kind of truth? The truths of science, the truth of the human soul, the truth of who killed the first and only woman he has loved, or the truth of the Bazaar; it does not matter. Thaddeus wants to discover and understand all of it, by whatever means necessary. Even (and especially) if it kills him. Thaddeus looks up from his typewriter and watches a fly that has been following him a bit too closely. He returns to his writing and adds the following: While generally someone who prefers working alone, Thaddeus enjoys human companionship and would even be willing to work together with a like-minded individual. Edit: I am afraid I won't be available to RP from now on. Grad school has been crazy!
Sestina Valdis-- An author who cannot help but feel odd when writing about herself in the third person. The pursuit of pleasure is what guides her in the darkness of the Neath; there are oral, bodily and textual pleasures aplenty for the young satirist. Marriage has hindered this pursuit, to an extent, but faithfulness has its own rewards. After all, matrimonial faithfulness does not preclude discussions about the written word, of the kind that make the most radical Bohemians blush, nor honey-drenched nights, nor alcohol-soaked evenings...!
Notes: I would prefer lighthearted, "casual" RP that does not involve any rush for me to reply, due to the fact that I am studying AND teaching now... As Andrew (or "Andrew"?) knows, I tend to take a while to reply sometimes... Don't take that personally, please! This is because of my schedule, and because typing as my character takes ages sometimes... Var Sheridan (alignment best described as "Neutral Selfish" or "Selfish Good") - a Correspondent, academic, and collector of secrets, as well as a member of the Bohemian set. Beneath a mannerly (if not particularly respectable) exterior they are passionate, self-indulgent, strong-willed, distrustful, and vengeful - they love strongly, hate strongly, and take a long time to learn to trust people. Despite this, they usually try to be a "good" person, and are more likely to harm themself in the pursuit of knowledge than they are to harm others, although they resent anyone who puts obstacles in the way of their research. Details of their appearance are here.
Notes: A more relaxed pace of roleplaying is preferred, between one to several replies a week if possible, though I don't mind waiting if replies take longer than that. Open to roleplaying via Fallen London messages/social actions, tumblr posts, or through google documents. (Though the last two will have to be arranged via private messages or tumblr asks.) I'm pretty flexible about how and where! Anyone who wants to RP through tumblr should contact me on my Fallen London blog, here. Mathieu Psmith ~ A notable gentleman of the Neath, who has a weakness for making a scene in his public appearances. He originally made his artistic name in London by singing the songs of the rooftop urchins in the drawing rooms of those who'd never dare the Flit. Perhaps it was the fact that he chose a cause early, but this poet and artist seems to have emerged from his Bohemian origins with both his integrity and sense of humor intact. He's now a devoted family man, with a lovely wife and three adopted girls he's very proud of.
Vaughan Montblanc ~ A doctor hailing from the Canadian West. Originally, he was a hunter, of rats, big game... and certain men. After many violent entanglements in the Neath, however, he underwent a change of heart, and now has taken up the profession of Doctor. No stranger to dark secrets himself, he made his reputation through absolute discretion.
Irene Psmith ~ Adopted Daughter of Mathieu. A troublingly enthusiastic Player of the Great Game, and always on the lookout for the Main Chance. Not deliberately mean, but even she'd admit you'd be daft to trust her. Still, not bad company if you keep that in mind, and a very useful person to know, in a pinch.
-- "DO NOT TRUST HAPPY ENDINGS. DO NOT FEAR SAD ENDINGS... NEITHER ARE ENDINGS." ~ Mathieu Psmith: The Bard of Lost Children, loving husband, and a fixture of the artistic set. Can never resist making a show of things...

Hello all! I seem to end up active in some people's role playing endeavors, so you may have see some of my (RP) replies before. My FL signature links are pretty much the jumping off point as to the character archetypes, but I'll see if I can slightly expand here the characters. I won't divulge too much because the best thing of mystery is the discovery, including what makes a being tick. the truthseeker below is in regards to Fallen London and Sunless Sea, not me posting on message boards as my non-character. Let's start: the truthseeker is a Slavic ancestry male Mignighter appearing to be somewhat a surface age from the early thirties to early fifties. His curly hair is brown, but his beard and moustache is red. He carries a look of one so intelligent, they have seen more than others should, but somehow eases the burden off of him. It is hard to categorize his morality, but he often appears Lawful, Pragmatic and Scholarly.
Snow Belie the Author and future Correspondent is a Germanic ancestry straight raven hared beauty who barely appears to have hit womanhood. Her "Innocence" look like the fairy tale however, is her greatest weapon to ply secrets and scandal for her voracious appetites. She is truly a hedonist in all things experienced, with absolutely no filter regarding shame (sometimes comedicly, sometimes amazingly shockingly.) There is a permanent residence set up for her at the Tomb Colonies and she is permanently assigned officers from the ministry of Public Decency to monitor her activities.
Nobby Longshanks the English Trickster and Future Crooked cross is the epitome of what an Orphan gang child looks like when they get too old. Surviving on his wits and his agility as a wavy blonde haired 17-year old "adult," it's not clear if the Cockney accent is authentic or part of "Da 'ong 'ame Guv!" Short of his former clan, no trust will ever be kept between him and anybody else, but if you're wise enough, you can get rich very quickly....
Brutus Leadbetter the future Licentiate is a brick wall thick-skinned of a man of few words, age and background indeterminate. Thick black straight bowl-cut hair and a dusty top-hat are even less coarse than the person's manner. "Wot? Dere's a problem? 'Ave yew hit it?" is his most prolific. if you have to ask what you need a thug for, then you most likely are not in need of his particular skill set, but there's no question to its veracity as noted by the multiple black ribbons he carries and the permanent absence of the former carriers.
If you wish to contact me for said stories, it's likely I will miss an individual thread I'm not currently following at that moment. Send me a PM and a link and your request and I'll be glad to reply with a response to the request. edited by the truthseeker on 12/9/2015

Baron Koich - The honeyed Monster-Hunter. A laid-back, apathetic-looking person whose name is respected among zailors and toasted-to among Bohemians, partly due to his past as a hack writer and composer, but mostly because of his (in)famous honey binges and hunting lodge that's visited only by a select few. Cynically disposed towards the Constables, the Church, and especially high society.

She retired in a traumatic incident that involved the death of her daughter and a crime she may or may not have committed (she remains silent on that point). She still has a husband (hopefully) waiting on the Surface; she intends to go back to him one day, so she intends to avoid dying down here at all costs. Saevitia: Frequently bouncy thrillseeker who loves to discover new things about as much as she enjoys bar fights. Her exploits aren't necessarily known, but she's always happy to share them if someone else is buying the drinks. (For those who like D&D style alignments, she waffles between chaotic good and chaotic neutral. Usually.)
Player note: I suffer from UTC-7:00 and have a somewhat odd schedule, so replies/participation may seem erratic, but I try very hard to respond within a day. RP-via-social action is not ideal for me right now; between those already active and my current grind, my in-game turns are pretty much spoken for. Calling cards and similar are exceptions to that -- if someone drops Vitya a note, she does her best to respond. She's not entirely churlish!

Vavakx Nonexus, the Deranged Solicitor - The well-informed owner of the Bazaarine Emporium, named 'Euphemia'. None of the items on display (many of which are mirrors, broken or otherwise) are for sale, but other, less corporeal wares are traded in the store. They welcome all visitors to the shop. Do not linger, though, as you may be mistaken for a rival in perfidy, and charged immense taxes by this very same individual: Spirit Ownership, Soullessness, Meddling with the Third Trader's Transaction and records thereof, Breaking the Bilingual Barter Concordat... Does such law truly exist down here, or are they just filling their pockets under the name of justice? There are few that they ignore, all of them bearing a stylized eye upon their wrist and mundane, grey cloth upon their shoulders. Does this person play the game, as well?

After some misfortunes in the past weeks (sorry for all that were hanging waiting for my reply!) I'm back.
I'm open to rp with the guys in my signature:
Professor Strix, a professor that solves crimes or a detective that gives lectures at the university, depending on the time of the week. She is polite and a little socially awkward, but will help you with anything she can.
Derek Davies, the Dapper Escapist, spent a while in the body of a sulky bat. He is a magician in Mahogany Hall at Saturdays, a reporter during the work days and a bohemian good-for-nothing in the others. Be careful of him, though, he almost always has second intentions in his interactions.
Notes: 1) To clarify things for polite first approaches: "Strix" is not the Professor's surname, but her first name. When I signed in the game, I didn't know that the forums exist, or that I would use her to rp - I barely knew what FL even was! -, so I used Brazilian naming convention of Title + First Name instead of Title + Last Name. Her full name is Strix van Allen - and it's an obviously fake name. No one knows the name she used in Surface and she likes it this way.
2) IRL, I'm a teacher, I'm working my way into being a professor, and I keep other artistic projects. I may take a little while (1-2 days) to reply the rp messages, specially if I'm writing something non-FL-related and find it hard to put my creative juices back in rp. I try to keep a backup of everything people send to me, so, if my message didn't reach you, I might be able to find it and send it again. Some misclicks happen once in a while, though, and I lost some messages this way. If you feel I'm taking too much time, I may have sent the message to the wrong player, or mistakenly accepted yours without reading (I usually warn people of this, but weird things happen), or it may be some mess like what happened to me two weeks ago (and, very occasionally, this unholy breed of scientist and artist here may just forget things, like a good ol' absented-minded professor). I don't mind if you give me a nudge in a pm in the forum or in a letter in game.

Hark DeGaul, a bright-eyed cat lover who grew up at zee. They are a civil and somewhat sinister individual who has bright plans for London's future!
Hebediah Fix, the Lion of Ardahan, is a Crimean War veteran turned vicar who runs a small church amidst the honeydens of Hollow Street. He is jovial and boisterous, with a particular love of impractical duels. Currently looking for his missing daughter, who sold her soul and disappeared.

- Mademoiselle. A hedonistic, silver-tongued socialite with a soft spot for everything related to mirrors, and what might or might not exist behind them. Has an easy smile. Yes, she would rather be addressed as "Mademoiselle", but of course 'tis not her name.
- Maxwell Bradford, Curt revolutionary of few words, but otherwise a very pious gentleman. Occasionally prone to sending horrors of penmanship when his Nightmares get too high. Has a thing against Devils.
I've been roleplaying for more than 8 years now, so anything you throw at me--as long as it's reasonably well written--I'm game. However, I do appreciate trading OOC letters to make sure we're on the same line of thought--Not to mention, I love to get to know the people behind the characters!. I understand if that's not your cup of tea, so we can just circumspect the conversation to what's going on in the rp, too. That being said, I'm in med school, and classes are going to start soon. Rest assured, I'll let you know if I ever fall in an(other) existential crisis and have to postpone my next reply.

Willow Elmsworth, A far too cheery socialite and philanthropist with a soft spot for children who unravels into something of a mystery when you realize she has far too many children, none of them look anything like her, and some of them are only pretending to be happy.
Behind the character, I've been roleplaying for quite a long time now, and am quite willing to go along with any sort of roleplay style you're comfortable with! As long as it's well written. I have a penchant for evolving storylines, intrigue, mystery, and absolutely showering people I like with gifts. (Not to say I'll bribe you to interact with me. But I am very generous.)

Ragged Martha, a (recovered) leper with an affinity for the Tomb Colonies, an admiration for the Masters, and a measured disdain for the preening fools that cast her out of the Shuttered Palace.
Of the truths of the Neath, she holds one in highest esteem: everything has value, and, in turn, a price.
Her home's a criss-crossed maze of theorems linked with twine to newspaper clippings, vertices mapped on the walls, the floor, the ceiling -- at least, where she hasn't scrubbed clean the charred-black residue of an ill-fated attempt at copying the Correspondence's sigils. If there's a tidy room in her house, it'd be her study, where her salon meets once a week on Sundays, oh-so-coincidentally temporally opposed with morning mass at St Destin's. On every day but Sunday, though, she uses its desk sparingly, and only when she need consult her notes on the subject of monster breeding.
She's often rude (unless you're a Tomb Colonist) and always irritated. Approach with caution, if at all, though if she's offered a gift, she'll begrudgingly match it...at least in sentiment, if not in price.
-- Charmingly abrasive, skulking like a rat amidst picked-over refuse, and staring with unblinking eyes at those who'd so fecklessly discard a perfectly good crust of bread. Ah! There's one now! Dinner!
Ragged Martha, a dead woman walking. What's not to love? Don't waste her time (And you'll know if you are, you little devil, you), and she won't waste yours. Corresponds entirely through telegrams, perhaps excepting gifts she delivers in person.

Dirae Erinyes (CG) is perpetually heavily cloaked individual who is of course not a steampunk Frankenstein monster on a quest to avenge the first person to ever truly love them. Their favorite method to solving problems is by punching them, their favorite pastime is writing, and is currently playing The Great Game to further their own ambitions. For the good of London of course. They can be easily distracted by pleasures of the flesh, curiosity, and occasionally just shiny glim falling from the roof. However, as soon as they have a mission, they are as relentless as the Zee itself. Dirae Erinyes is pair however- they almost always are seen in the company of Evensong. Evensong is of course not a snuffer spy from the Foreign Office. She is however, embarrassed and delighted by her spouse's enthusiastic devotion. She is still getting used to finding a safe spot to live with Dirae Erinyes - safety is something that Snuffers can never take for granted.

Udorie Faine is a watcher, a watcher for the constables to be more precise. For this reason she often taunts unlawful companions, though she'd never dream of turning them in. Being a watcher she's also very involved in the business of secrets, for better or for worse.
Down in the Neath she goes by the name Concede, though if asked her what her real name was she'd happily oblige. Udorie's very odd, one might say eccentric and comes of as goofy at times but others dead serious. It's just a part of her nature. Her passions are reading, writing, card games, the great game, and anything involving secrets, ciphers, or rumors. Udorie hasn't the foggiest notion of flirting, and it's good for her as she's already married.
Other~ Once Udorie saw with her own eyes how they procured honey, and consumed some of the more red kind, she's vowed never to touch the stuff again.
If you'd like to roleplay with me, just send over message or calling card.
BACKSTORY~
Udorie has a very interesting past to say the least, she lived with a single mother on the surface, her brother supported the family because her mother was too weak to work. She had always said she was going to go and make a life for herself somewhere, and she wanted to grow up quickly. One day her brother was found dead, killed in a skirmish perhaps, and as soon as her mother heard the news she changed. Slowly her mother drifted off into depression and Udorie decided as a young teenager that the Neath was where she was going to make a life for herself. In the beginning she hadn't much time to think of her past, struggling to stay off the street, but as time went by she wondered what would happen if she had taken a different road. She's dreamed of avenging her brother's death since. Though she'd never admit it out loud.
The first time she ever went into exile she saw a woman burying one of the dead, it confused her greatly but she chose not to inquire. This person eventually explained to her that the woman she had buried was likely not coming back. Udorie took time to mourn with her, but not before she noticed that it was her mother's own face, probably coming to look for her in the Neath. She prefers not to speak of her past unless she knows you well, she's let go of her mother and brother, but the pain of knowing that she could've save her dear mom will always linger with her. edited by Concede on 2/20/2016

Dr. Adelaide “Addy” Capella - A friendly, cross-dressing physician with absolutely atrocious people-judging skills. She’s come to the neath to avenge her brother, which has proven difficult due to the fact that she’s about as vicious as a warm kitten. Despite her strict moral conscience, she tends to surround herself with less scrupulous people, and as such has developed a habit of bending said morals when it comes to protecting ‘her own’. She’s also been known to break them completely if she thinks there’s a good enough reason- so perhaps, she’s not as moral as she once was. But she tries.
Open to rping with most anyone, through letters or social actions. I send out a lot of nursing offers.
