Especially ones that give low amounts of connected. And 1 cp is pretty low.

well that's annoying.
I think my biggest problem with favors is how infrequent they are - most are tied to the RNG of pulling the right card. it makes them feel way too precious to use them as currency like the creators intend. edited by ofelina on 7/28/2016

It would be nice if there were options at the Carnival insuring you had access to at least one favor, should you need it and are willing to pay. That would also prevent the Carnival from being neglected. Since they changed Dockers to the favor system I've visited the Carnival somewhat less.

Individual Rubberies are a common sight on the streets of London, but their "Connected: Rubberies" didn't have a ton of ways to interact with it. It seems as though those items may have been added just so high-Connected players felt rewarded for their efforts. If so, then Hell or the Church might not receive the same benefits.

They mentioned in the rubbery favours and renown thread that they will start doing this for every faction and as I remember they will give the factions already converted to this system items too.

Agreed, thank you very much for sharing that. On the topic of Urchins being the next conversion, how much do you think we'll need of that Connection?

It's hard to say as we have no official announcement on the conversion rate, and even if you were to guess based on the previous changes it isn't clear if or how the 'base rate' will be adjusted to reflect the relative difficulty of grinding connections. I would hazard at least 300 connected to reach max renown, almost certainly a lot more. There are pleasures and advantages to grinding it up post conversion, of course; I had 0 rubbery connection but I'm thoroughly enjoying raising it with favours and the wee storylets have quite endeared them to me. Plus there's the quirk boosts, of course.

I seem to remember that they decide the conversion rate based either on how available the connection is or what the average levels are like across the playerbase. I would expect the Urchins to use a similar conversion rate as the Rubbery Men.

I'd guess it's based on a curve of all players, making sure whichever player or players are in the top 1% get 50 Renown, players with average amounts get an average return, and so on...

What are the Connected items that let me convert Favours to Renown?
- I've been trying to find out for myself for a while now (on the forum as well as the wider web) and have struck out. So maybe the more knowledgeable people of the Forum - or possibly the devs - could answer this query?
(I've listed the two items that I'm aware of, and how to obtain them)
- Urchins: Rookery Password (available only(?) at the Bazaar - Crawcase Cryptics - so only in exchange for Echoes apparently)
- Tomb Colonies: Diary of the Dead (available at the Bazaar - see above - as well as through trading Certifiable Scraps with the Curt Relicker, on that opportunity card)
- Rubbery Men: ??
- Criminals: ??
- Docks: ??
If anyone could complete (or at least add to) the list, I'd be ever so grateful! I keep losing (well, "not gaining") Favours because of the cap at 7 and my inability to convert them to Renown...

All of them are purchasable from the Bazaar, usually from the Pawnbrokers (a handful are elsewhere at the Bazaar). You may not want to buy the rubbery one since it's hella expensive and you can get them for free from the Nadir if you go there weekly already. edited by Kaijyuu on 2/7/2017

Thank you! I was just about to edit my post to add the Nodule of Pulsating Amber (which I just discovered while looking through the Bazaar stalls again) and the Old Bone Skeleton Key (which I had forgotten before - but didn't know where to find it anymore) - Still, I think it's good to have a complete list here (since it's not in the official blog post about the Favours and Renown system)!
It's a shame though that most of these items have to be purchased and can't be obtained somewhere else (through luck or trade)... (I'm trying to save up for an Overgoat )

What would be done with things which currently reduce Connected as a penalty rather than a cost, e.g. failing a burglary of the Brass Embassy? It doesn't quite make sense for that to cut into Renown, but would it simply be negligible if the player doesn't have any favors to lose? That's currently the case if the player has none of the associated Connected, but having zero Favors is common regardless of Renown.

That's currently the case if the player has none of the associated Connected, but having zero Favors is common regardless of Renown. Some of the minor losses simply vanished. For example, the Rubbery loss on the Decommissioned Steamer card, or the Urchins loss on the Constables card were removed with no replacement. There was one card that lost Urchins on failure, and that was converted into a Suspicion increase.
Significant actions can wipe all your Favors. I assume that's what will happen when robbing the Embassy. It definitely won't reduce Renown. At one point, FBG hinted such an action could even increase Renown, although they may have changed their mind because nothing like that has been implemented.
I wonder if robbing the Embassy will actually require Favors in the future, so that there's something to wipe. I think the story could be adjusted to fit--calling in favors to gain access after hours.

The big cost of failing that robbery is being sent to jail, anyway.
