Please forgive me for the wild post but i had not an idea where to ask. I find myself in need of any and all information that this lady can get her hands on pertaining to "A Headful of Picaresque Tales". What is this object? Can you get more? What is it's purpose? How is it related to the bazaar and how significant is it? I would be more than grateful for any answers. Thank you noble ones.

So that's where the Headful of Picaresque Tales comes from! I remembered the Vance tribute card -- I thought it was terribly sweet when I got it. I had completely forgotten that was where the Tales came from though. (I'd somehow thought they were from Hunter's Keep)

I can further report that should you, hypothetically, sell it to the Bazaar in avaricious hope of drawing the card again and so attaining great profit, you would be disappointed.

Not that I have any personal experience bearing on the matter. I would put my Headful of Picaresque Tales on my mantle, but my Bandit Chief is terribly vain, you understand, and rather menacing.

It's available from a card called A disgraceful spectacle. The first option just loops back to the card (and gives a Memory of Distant Shores), the second option gives you the item you are looking for, and the third option gives you a blue and shining stone. It's a tribute to Jack Vance, a writer who died recently.

I sell the stone/tales each time I draw it. I once got it twice in one day (back when I ran an aggressively thin deck, hunting the Passion destiny.)
It would be nice if you could draw the card again while you already have the item, I can't turn down a profit like that, but I'd love to keep at least the headful of tales...

You could always "keep" it by always choosing that option whenever you draw it. Personally, I found the card an excellent source of echoes in the early game. I kept seeming to draw it again not too terribly long after selling the previous reward.

EDIT: Reading this thread just reminded me that I hadn't seen the card for a while, so I went to the bazaar and sold off the blue and shining stone.

You cannot draw this card if you have either of the unique items it provides. If you want to see it again, they must be sold.

Oh bother. I'm a collector of things, particularly the unique items (see mantlepiece :p) and I really want the stone! ...but I really want to keep the tales, too. *sigh* I wish there was a way to have both, but I suppose that's the point.
Oh well. I'll hold on to the tales, the chances of seeing the card again are too low to risk selling an item I'll never see again.

If you plan on getting a heptagoat or cider, well, you'll certainly see it again before you've got either. I believe i've drawn it at least 5 times, probably closer to two dozen.

I got the card three times total. Figured I could keep getting it, got greedy and sold off 2 Headfuls of Picaresque Tales and 1 Blue Stone. Needless to say, I haven't seen it again. But it is definitely possible to draw it multiple times.

Good. I hope to see the card, and play it.

I once met Mr. Vance at a science fiction convention. That was in 1992, and he was ill and not terribly communicative that day. It was a pity, but at least I did get the opportunity to meet him once.
