Due to some errant clicking, I inadvertently upset my mysterious benefactor? I was wondering if there's a way to win back his favour. I miss my mint humbugs.

Hello! If you've lost your benefactor item, my guess would be that you've reset the story entirely and will have to draw the card to start it again - but that is purely a guess, and someone might know better than I!

If you accidentally clicked the fate option I think you just need to go to your lodgings to choose a benefactor, and get the associated item. But you will have to play through the story again.

Well, what happened is there is an Opportunity card that had told me my Benefactor wanted me to fetch some sort of book for him, I think, and I could choose to do so or I could choose not to, and out of curiosity I chose not to and he left. I'll check around in my Lodgings though and see if I can find anything.

Oh - that is right at the start of the story. I don't know what happens if you refuse your benefactor's request - you might need to wait for the opportunity card to turn up again.
