Keeping souls out of hell

Im trying to play a pious character. Is there any thing you can do with regular souls that does not send them to hell? I cant upgrade them since the Infernal Somalier clearly works for hell. Can I play the soul trade fatelocked content without sending souls to hell?

I don't want to say too much, but yes, the Trade in Souls story does allow you a much more... altruistic path. Of course, altruism is rarely as profitable as self-interest, but it does still have its benefits.
