I've been told you'll keep getting a card at one point where you have no choice but to sell your soul? It can be discarded though.

You have choices. That said, once you've begun the storyline, the devils will not go away until you sell your soul to them.

You can just write a sharp note back. The first card in the storyline will always show up to anyone who hasn't completed that storyline and has Connected:Hell 5, but the rest of the cards won't show up unless you keep pursuing the devils. The cards to sell your soul to them only appear at the end of the storyline.

Is selling your soul useful at all?

Some people sell their souls for fun and profit. Personally, I'd tread into it as that storyline unlocks a very slightly cheaper way to get a 4-card lodging, and a renewable source of Confident Smiles and ostentatious diamonds. But of course, I never let the devils get too intimate
(I always have my intimate between 8 and 11, and reject the Quiet Deviless for Society connections)

(I always have my intimate between 8 and 11, and reject the Quiet Deviless for Society connections) it's useful to actually have sold your soul if you're a collectionist- which you shouldn't be, since if you are that's more harmful than seeking, now (since there's an item only for seekers who hit the end of seeking and turned back rather than ended it all). but you can't get the brass embassy 5-card upgrade without either spending an item that costs 1562.5 echoes or spending ToL 8 with a sold soul. edited by Grenem on 6/21/2016

The card where you can lose your soul is "A Serious Offer." You can just discard it if you don't want to risk it.

I accidentally washed my Grubby Kitten. Now she's gone off to the Palace and I'm looking for another. Hopefully it won't be too long before I draw the card.
