Fantastic, I hope that the Secular Missionary and the Devout Intriguer get their own portraits eventually! This is very exciting.

Something seems a bit off about the new artist model's face but I can't quite put my finger on it.

Maybe I was just too used to seeing the old one.

I've been loving all the new art so far, though the Functionary looks a lot less like a Civilian now. I wonder if his involvement with the Admiralty has changed him any...

Baby fat on her cheek, something like that. Feels really young.

I think the posh variant could use some bling. Jewelery. With the hair tied up in a bun she looks even younger for some reason.

Aunt look pretty awesome! The Wry Functionary seems... less wry to me. Happier, though.

They're all really, very nice! One suggestion: maybe swap chap1 and chapposh? The new portrait is much more refined, and fits the Entanglement with an Old Friend (who's moved up in the world) much better than the alternative.

I also like the subtly changed new Confident Smile. It's much better!

I can swear I saw new art for Wry Functionary. And then it was gone.

Not too sure it changed for the better, but I think I can live with it.

The new(est) Confident Smile looks better, but it still feels somewhat off.

Of course the crux of the problem may be the original decision to represent a smile with an eye...

This new eye is a lot nicer. I still think the purple is a bit too eye-catching (hah), and the eye looks a little startled.

Overall though, the changes are very nice and it's impossible to make us all happy. smile

I... can't decide if what bothers me is the new style or if I just hate change. Probably both. I do dislike the new style - most of it is so... flat, and just seems to have less "character" than the old. It's not bad, it wouldn't bother me if it had been like that when I joined the game, but almost every time I notice a replacement it makes me unhappy.

Some of them I didn't notice at all - public, package, rats... And, okay, the Bazaar card IS incredibly pretty. But I don't like the new Magnanimous, Functionary, urchin, Cryptic Clues, cards, heist, message, the gentleman friend whose actual name I forget right now...

Suddenly seeing things change to ones I like less bothers me enough that I'm starting to consider dropping the game for a few months and coming back once the update is done and I don't have the old images fresh in my mind any more. upset

...is it just me, or is the Honey-Sipping Jewel-Thief way uglier than he used to be? He used to look like an Errol-Flynn-esque 'Charming Rogue' archetype. Now he just looks like a 19th-century version of Leisure Suit Larry.

Good thing I wasn't planning to hook up with HIM again, anyway! >_>

Of course, it's the fact that the Artist's Model is as glorious as ever (if not moreso) that really makes him stand out... or down.

Ironically, if they're committed to using an eye to represent confident smiles, they might have been better off using this one instead:

Getting the curve of the eyebrow in at least gives you an opportunity to imply confidence more than a super close-up of the eye itself. Of course, you also have to have room for the little number telling you how many you have...

Of all the changes, it's my Everlasting Candle with it's "bold green flame" that bothers me the most. It's not even green anymore.

I would have to really agree with you on this, eyelash.png looks too.. abstract I guess? I really don't like it. It's also slightly creepy, still slightly creepy, although it's a lot better than it was with the second art change.

I also want to say I think Starveling Cats need an art change. The new art for them doesn't scream or even seem to imply the menace to my larder that they are.

I'll also point out, in case it's been forgotten, that greycat.png hasn't been updated.

I may be biased though, as I probably have more starveling cats than anyone else (105 as of writing this, some are on Carlos' account though).

It's funny. I had my monitor die and got a new 23" one so I can view 1080 p and high resolution better. when I first viewed FL with it, I thought, "wow, how did I miss such detail before?!" Then I realized they updated the art smile

I absolutely LOVE the Bazaar pic. The colors are gorgeous and the lines are beautiful!

As for the Stolen Kiss and Confident Smile....

The Stolen Kiss is just the wrong lip color. it needs to be more passionate red.

The confident smile eye color I can accept, but the eye itself (as noted by others) just doesn't emote...smiling.

    As quoted:

Even if you need to stick with that violet color, use this eye design instead. Nothing says "confident smile" like a sultry smouldering stare.

    Oh yes, definitely.
Pity, he was so fascinating in his previous version... *sigh*

I just got the new God's editors image, which suits perfectly.

In case nobody mentioned it yet, the Cultured attaché has also changed (but not much).

I agree, that would make a far better Confident Smiles.
