I'm sorry if I missed this info before, but what happens if you sign up for Exceptional Friendship now (or mid-month generally)? I assume you would only get access to the May story, but would your extra actions and cards also end on June 1?

No, you would get 31 days of access regardless of when you sign up. You will be able to start the May story (and if you do, you can finish it later than May), and when June rolls over you should be able to get that story too. EF stories work the following way: at some point, you need to go to the House of Chimes to progress, which only EF can do.

Thank you! I wanted to be sure before I signed up.

It is VERY disapointing that when you subscribe to exceptional friendship now you don't get 20 free actions, it increases your candle but doesn't give you a whole candle, just a nub to slowly grow when you leave it alone.

Is it really? I would suggest that given the increased deck size and new content Exceptional Friendship now brings, you might consider whether being VERY disappointed might seem a little unreasonable.

Question for Hannah, or any other FBG person who happens to be reading this:
I have arrived at the stage of this month's Exceptional tale that requires me to make the final decision. Will the storylet taking me to that choice remain after the end of the month? Or will it disappear once the June story starts? I'm not in any rush to make my decision and wanted to know if I need to do so in the next 10 days...

If you've started the month's story, you can complete it at your leisure - no matter where you're up to when the next story is released.
Not long now until the next story! I am getting fidgety to announce it!

Yes, quite. One must assume the choice of words was not accidental!

Hahah, I am fidgety myself - I couldn't vouch for whether the content will be Fidgety. :P

A matter of luck: this could go either way.

Is there any chance of an option to pay in NZD? I get charged by my bank for foreign currency transactions, which I don't mind too much when I buy large chunks of Nex at irregular intervals, but the thought of getting hit by the fee once a month when my subscription renews is... not pleasant. I realise there probably aren't many players from NZ, but I can't be the only one, surely.
Edit: failing that, is the Paypal option likely to be available in the near future? I've just realised I could load up Paypal with USD and only pay the bank fee once, much like buying wodges of Nex. edited by the_antichris on 5/26/2015

The new features that come with being an Exceptional Friend are very welcome. The new subscribe system not so much. For those of us unable to subscribe with a credit card it locks us out of experiencing the new content. I would very much like to be an Exceptional Friend and support Failbetter but it's just not viable for me with the current system. I'm sure there are other people in the same predicament. I hope you guys will take that into consideration. The Paypal method (if implemented) is looking like it might be the only viable option for people in my situation.
I'd also like to say that I'm really going to miss the option to become an Exceptonal Friend using Nex. It was super convenient. From what I gathered from reading this thread, that option seems unlikely to make a comeback which is a shame.

Well, I for one do have to jump through certain hoops to do payment via Credit Cards. At all. In General. Probably an unfathomable thought... for Brits and Americans, as is. Which me be neither one of.
So yeah, that means no more casual drive-by renewing of Exceptional Friendships for me from now on. Simply No-Kando. And I am still missing an Explanation why specifically this transaction should be exempt from the Fate/Nex mechanism. Unless, of course.... well, don't make me think. That always leads to Spiders'n Stuff. Mostly.

Question: Is there any easy way to double-check whether or not my Exceptional Friendship is set to auto-renew? I bought it for May with my credit card, but the Fate page says "ONCE YOUR EXCEPTIONAL FRIENDSHIP HAS LAPSED, YOU'LL BE ABLE TO RENEW IT BY SUBSCRIBING." and my account page shows no subscriptions.

Yes. If you click on your name in the upper right and select 'edit your account', the lower-left corner has a subscriptions box. It will either read: 'you have no subscriptions' or 'cancel your subscription'.

Thank you! I suspected as much, but wanted to confirm before money was charged to my account.

Curious: my Exceptional Friendship did not renew itself after a month, though it remains listed as a subscription on my Story Nexus profile page.
