Difficulty advancing in A Trade in Souls

I got to Involved in the Soul Trade 6 and A Merchant of Souls 3 - Wickedly Lucrative
I think i'm supposed to be waiting for an opportunity card, but I've gone through dozens of them without any way of advancement. Am I missing something important, or just dreadfully unlucky?

The RNG is messing with you. The best advice I can give is to draw cards in locations that don't add cards to your deck, like Mahogany Hall or the Forgotten Quarter. Every little bit helps. Hopefully the card will turn up for you soon!
