Is there any way to stop the story ¨An intimate of Devils¨ that doesn't involve selling my soul? If I get the story to level 13 I only have three options: selling my soul, the fate option which doesn't stop the story (I tried) or refusing which just decrease the level of the story to 8 where I continue to receive around 6 card of standard frequency.

You could continue to spurn them until you're down to just the one letter from the Affectionate Devil, and then eradicate your Hell connection.

Thanks Sara. If I sell my soul to the devils of the Intimate story and get my soul back, will all the cards keep appearing or will it finish the story for good?

Selling your soul to the Intimate Devils will finish the story for good. They won't pester you for your soul a second time, thankfully.

Thanks Sara. Sadly, it breaks the immersion as I have a Shepherd’s Timepiece, but I will probably have to do it.

Relatedly, they will also not bother you if you've sold your soul any other way. Which is a way to get them to leave you alone and let you keep your hell connections.

That will put the other card into your deck which completely wipes your Intimate of Devils quality, so once you get your soul back you'll get the beginning card again. Selling your soul to the Affectionate Devil or Quiet Deviless is the only way to be fully rid of all the cards while keeping your soul and your Connected:Hell. One card isn't too bad, though. Far better than 2 or 6, and you get a nice price for it. There are pros and cons to either method. -- edited by Sara Hysaro on 3/17/2015

I'm surprised at how frequently this question is asked...it's almost as if the intimate with devils storyline is poorly executed if so many people want out of it. Couldn't we be given a chance to forcefully and publicly denounce the devils, perhaps at the cost of all connected hell and a good deal of connected society? There are MANY storylines I wouldn't play were I to run another character because of the annoying consequences. This is one of them.

They're definitely persistent. I thought that dratted model was tenacious but at least I managed to get rid of her eventually. Eris is not someone who would ever voluntarily sell her soul, but I'm seriously considering letting her be 'tricked' just to get rid of the duo of infernal stalkers cluttering up my deck.

I think Alexis mentioned on a post somewhere that they had to prevent players from optimizing the card deck too much so these storyline remained.
And to be fair, this storyline is a relic all the way from Echo Bazaar Beta, and a particularly low-level one at that. It is just a way to show people how Devils operate on stealing souls. It just doesn't work as well as it used to be because Abstraction are super common knowledge now, people grew in status and abilities exponentially yet it wasn't updated to address that.
I suspect people would be happier about being courted by devils if they were treated more respectfully. Somewhere along the lines of "I AM SHATTERING FORCE NOW. I WILL RIP OUT YOUR STUPID FINGERNAILS AND PULVERIZE YOUR BEE, DEVILESS. EVEN THE APES IN THE EMPIRE OF HANDS OFFER A BETTER PRICE."
....I mean, the Dashing Smuggler is psychotic too, but he give you cherries and never give you meance.

Relatedly, I would also like him to leave me alone (admittedly he only shows up in the tomb colonies, and its more a 'remember him?' then him actually bothering you, which, while nice, is still a card in a place where cards are extra important, and no I don't particularly remember him because I'm a lesbian lol.)

So... For someone in the odd situation of having lost their soul to the Deviless but wanting to replay that story, I could technically regain my soul, sell it another way, use the other card mentioned to wipe the Intimate quality, regain my soul again, and have the devils bothering me again?
(And then no doubt have to lose it again to make them stop once I'm fed up with it?)

Unfortunately if you have Intimate of Devils 20 you won't get the card to reset the quality. Once you sell it to them once that's it.

Ah. Oh well... I guess I'll just have to make an alt if I really want to see that content again.
