Nex update: Changes to VAT in the UK

There have been some changes to the way VAT works in the UK (link for those interested).
Unfortunately we are now required to charge regional VAT on Nex purchases through our primary payment provider (Braintree).
We'll be making this update later today; details of the VAT charged on any purchase will be available on the Nex purchase screen.

My card was suspended until I could go into town and confirm in person that I'd made the purchase, the last time I'd bought Nex.
It seems the practice of putting the service charge separate from the main charge looks too much like certain scam practices.
If this causes the charge to go through in three parts, it may trip even more alarms.
