Greetings, fellow Londoners! While browsing the forum once more, I stumbled across some of the old stories that have been on here. After rereading quite a bit of them, I got the urge to be part of one again. So, is anyone else interested? I'd be willing to be part of nearly anything, from a Knife-and-Candle type deal, to something similar to the Polite Intrigue story. Mainly, I'd just like to sculpt a story with my fellow Londoners. Any and all suggestions are most welcome.

((A quick bio for my character
James McClellan is a lanky individual with a penchant for helping the less fortunate. He's enjoyed his 15 minutes of fame in the past, but most of his exploits have since faded into obscurity, leaving him with the solitude to pursue his most pressing works. These days he's known as an occasional campaigner, especially for animal rights, and a showman down at Mahogany Hall.
In truth, he spends much of his days researching the secrets of the Neath, in the belief that a grim fate will befall London soon; A fate he intends to avoid. His own vision had him using Parabola to assault Hell alongside the Bishop. He also overheard another vision, of the people of London climbing to safety within the mirrors. He is convinced this is the path he should take to save London.
James is a Persuasive and Dangerous individual, a Glassman, and a player of the Marvellous. He keeps a hound of heaven as a bodyguard, maintains the employ of a diverse crew of rats, and has a subtle mole messenger.))
((I notice one of the henchmen is named James... should I pick another name? I've used this one in a prior RP.))
James strode through the lush green jungle he'd found himself in. This was no mere dream, no accident. This was a scholarly expedition, an opportunity to get used to the land that would form an integral part of his destiny. Alas, he was not experienced at walking beyond the mirrors, and every trip took its toll.
"We should take a break soon. Extensive trips are not safe for mortals like you." said the white serpent by his side. "I'll be fine," replied James "it's only been ten minutes." "It's been three hours."
James considered arguing, but quickly dismissed the thought. It was rare for sane men to come here, for good reason. His own insight was the last thing he could trust at the moment. He stepped over to one of the empty frames, glancing over at his companion in such a way that he only saw the frame through his periphery. For just a moment, the frame was a window to London, into an empty study. A safer spot than most. He laid a hand on his companion's scaly neck and stepped through.
Beyond the mirror, the room was dark. Thankfully the view through his spectacles made everything bright enough to see by. James was concerned, however, not by what he saw, but by what he heard. A great many people talking and moving about. This would complicate things.
((Apologies if my wording is off, it's been a while since I've written))

((Sorry about my absence, everyone. I’ve been having a lot of issues with my laptop lately, but everything should be good now!))
Sherman climbed into the landau, and offered a hand to Mytana behind him. “Franklin, take us to the Forgotten Quarter!” Jones called out. “Oh, wait a moment.” He noticed that the serpent was following him. It seemed they would be in the Company of Monsters. And the man with the white suit, as well. “Welcome aboard, gentlemen! Captain Jones at your service!” he shouted, standing and saluting as the two entered the landau. “Go ahead, Franklin! To the Quarter!” The landau lurched forward, and Sherman toppled down into a seat as the group began their ride.
((I'm glad you'll finally get to join us soon, Blackleaf!))

(No problem mate. I'm fairly sure there's room enough, it's not as if we have an exact maximum capacity or anything. Just pass on yours details)

((I'm sure we'd all be happy to have you join us, Corvo! I'll send a summary once I get off the mobile and back to the laptop. And we just need details on whoever your character will be. Most of us seem to be using our Fallen London characters, but you could make one up if you wanted to.))

((I've been thinking about it, and I feel a bit bad about leaving Blackleaf out for so long. I propose this: We split into two groups, one team going to Zeek's home to research, and the other going to the Forgotten Quarter, finding the tavern, and meeting Blackleaf. Of course, once the research is done, we can all reunite! Is everyone okay with this?))

Surprise works, I recommend some of the Widow's folk, or the Dockers, calling on my character for a favor.

Puckeridge, entering just in time to hear this last remark, sighed heavily. "Another man of the cutlery"? Those Knife and Candle types got everywhere.

((Blackleaf has told me that he'd like to be introduced into the story in a more believable place instead of outside the house, which I completely understand. As such, I'm going to write a pretty large chunk of story, and hopefully we'll advance fairy quickly so he can join us soon.))
The Excited Campaigner looked rather excitedly at the gentleman before him. "Bah, cretin!" the man yelled, and slapped the pamphlet to the ground. Well, that was one of the better reactions he had gotten. The Cause would stampede on regardless! With a new pep in his step, the Revolutionary led the ladies the rest of the way to Sherman's home, and up the stairs to the lounge, where four figures sat.
"Ah, excellent!" Jones said as three sets of scarlet stocking came into view. "Now, I suppose we'll have to decide who will have to wait, seeing as there are four of us and three- Is Mytana asleep there? Well, none of us should have to wait, it seems!" As Sherman made his way to the women, the door was thrown open once again. This time, at least a half dozen of his henchmen streamed into the room. "We've been lookin' fer the spiders at the Docks like you asked, sir!" A horribly scarred and gnarly looking man said. "We got to the Docks, and thar was a whoooole line o' spiders makin' thar way outta the tunnels. We all hid till they passed by, and then went inta the tunnel. Thar was a trail o' burnt spiders, so we followed it until it ended. Not too far after, der was a door in the tunnel. A door! James here smashed 'er open, and we took anything that looked interestin'." Two henchmen previously hidden now stepped forward, one carrying a handful of small tools, a small horse-head statue, and other assorted curiosities, and the other henchman a corpse of a sorrow-spider, and set them all down on the table in the center of the room. "The queer thing was, sir," another henchman began "was that the sorrow-spider appears to have been... dissected. This room we found had all sorts of surgical tools in it. There was web everywhere, and great jars with nothing but... nothing but eyes." Jones made his way to a chair and sat silent for a moment, looking at the mess on the table. "Thank you. You're all relieved for the night. Go do whatever it is that you do. Oh, and go tell Jasper to send some wine and echoes to the Bishop of Southwark, would you?" Jones waited until the men filed out of the room before he spoke again. "Well, this was an unexpected turn of events, wasn't it? Oh, you ladies can make yourselves comfortable while we work. It shouldn't be long!"
((I had a little investigation planned for this section. The idea is that all three of us will contribute to piece it together. Using the things left by the henchmen, we need to reach a specific place in the Forgotten Quarter. I don't want to limit it at all, so feel free to add whatever clues you want to it. *Hopefully* this makes sense, as I feel I'm not being clear enough. Do tell me if I'm being completely indecipherable with this.))
Sherman looked at the mess before him. "Well, the statue is Fourth City, that is clear enough. But what does it have to do with the spiders?" edited by Sherman Jones on 11/30/2013
