You could also become an enforcer and gain 2 Villains "weekly".
If you're an Author already, I wouldn't recommend that, though.

I'm currently a trickster for the Imp, but the pay is also good.
Bright side, it turned out that I had more than enough cryptic clues to convert into uses of villains, so now I have my Hoodlums. Now I can get back to thefts of a particular character to try and swipe some blue bottles.
EDIT: As a side note, thank you for linking to that chart, Zeedee. I knew there had to be something like that around somewhere, but I couldn't find it, and I got tired of looking up the options one by one from the sources page.

Unexpected Bonus! The only penalty for failing with the Hoodlums is the time you just wasted! This is gonna make things a lot less stressful, even if they do go slower sometimes.

If you fail a lot, you could consider second chances, I guess? You only need one second chance for 5-turn storylets so it can be worth it.

I'm going to do what I do best: parrot rare successes. :P A RS for converting 50 Brilliant Souls to 10 Muscaria Brandy is 2 Legal Documents in addition to the bottled poison. Regular success is 2 Visions of the Surface. The luck challenge is "it could go either way".
If you don't convert and simply steal Muscaria Brandy in Flit thefts, you save yourself 12 actions. It's 24 thefts either way: steal 600 Brilliant Souls to convert or steal 120 bottles of Muscaria Brandy and buy a guest room faster.
