New Messaging setting?

So, while on my storynexus account management page, I noticed a new ticky box in the notifications section: 'When a story develops'
I assume that is to choose whether or not to get notifications from living stories? If so, that'd be pretty awesome, 'cause I was getting pretty annoyed with the messages about the postman coming around and refusing to give me iron knife tokens.
Additionally, out of curiosity--are messaging settings global or world-specific? I ask because it'd be nice to opt out of getting certain types of notifications from FL (which has a rather active postal service) without having to worry about missing something important from another SN world.
