Not so much a failure as a stupid, stupid mistake. I'm collecting beasts for breeding, and spent some time at court to increase my scandal and go to the tomb colonies. So I wrote poetry, and when I got my inspired to 33 (you need 34 to finish), I got sent to the tomb colonies. I caught my beast and went back to London to breed it. Then I left to catch the next one, which prowls the underzee, and watched in horror as the message "Your "inspired" quality has been reset" appeared on the screen.

Not a failure as much as... well, a cul-de-sac, maybe. There was a nephrite lens sitting in my inventory for literally years. I was given to undeststand I could use it to grind a certain quality I had been too eager to cash in in the Cave of the Nadir. I did so, and immediately afterwards drew a card, granting me a Mandrake of the, yes, giggling variety.
It has since wounded me with a long needle(twice) killed my old pet mandrake in a way horrible enough to make anaemic listeners faint, and as it seems after a short research, the only way to get rid of it without taking part in a horribly blood-thirsty game is sailing to Mutton Island and playing coastguard for a long while. (Or maybe to spam wound tending offers, but I think there's a cap on the Maganimous gain from that.)

My recommended method for raising Maganimous is sending rats (obviously). It's only 1cp per send, but it is uncapped at least up to 21.

But of course! Rat-sending really was the answer all along. It's so obvious.

I really want to see what Dr. Schlomo is going to do with my dreams when I let him publish them. But I've drawn the card about 8 times, and while it's supposed to be "could go either way," I have yet to hit a success. Getting rather irritated at the old crank...

You could do what I did (*** NOT RECOMMENDED if you like your dreams***) and "use it" and give it a drop of your blood. Seriously though. I *really* don't recommend this option.

I had Noman Knows at 28. I had just spent 6 Tears of the Bazaar and the last of my PTPT:Lacre to raise my Noman back to health, and clocked in at 73 Noman's Friend. Then, the card showed up. One misclick later... all for naught. Not because Time took him, not because it was meant to be. All it took was one goddamn PEBKAC error. I'm in honest and real mourning, at this point.

I very briefly and accidentally deleted my entire account last night, haha. Thankfully Failbetter has put in a good amount of effort to make it very difficult to lose one's account forever and it was restored in short order good as new.
(or better than new actually, since I no longer suffer the ill effects of the sun)
You really do keep coming up with new and exciting ways to put yourself through hell for no good reason, Christ. Next up: Nitebrite manages to crash the entire game forever somehow. Copious drinking of Bottled Oblivion likely involved.

You might say a bit of old SMEN content flared up (props to flyte for a thematically appropriate warning). If you are wondering which bit of content, well, you might notice a bit of text missing from my forums signature, and I'll say no more than that.

Why does this sound so very much like the disclaimers on SMEN content? If you know the community so well, you *have* to know that this is an outright invitation.

After a month in the Flit spent farming 300 Uncanny Incunabulae, I smashed them today for 37 Searing Enigmas, with 258 Watchful. It was a really bad deal; average of 3.08 Enigmas per 25 Incunabulae. Sad face indeed.
For the record: Ones - 4 Twos - 1 Threes - 1 Fours - 4 Fives - 0 Sixes - 2

I had Watchful 208 with Notability exchange and I didn't realise that Notability points after 200 were not cumulative. So I tried with Notability 5 and replaced my 208 with 205. FAIL. I understand that it's my mistake not realising the rules but I feel like I need a break from Fallen London after this. No vigor left whatsoever.
