Today I learned that when you use Favourable Circumstances to force a specific opportunity draw, it pushes the rightmost card out of your hand.
That stings when the rightmost card was a Mood.
Edit: Wait, the mood came back after I went back and played through the card. Huh. Weird. edited by Arcengal on 2/4/2019 It's a display issue. The number of cards in your hand increases by one, and so if you have a full hand, the rest get pushed aside. This behavior occurs for other actions that force-draw opportunity cards, like the Amanuensis and Seeking, if I recall correctly.

They are back as soon as you discard them.

I was impatient when finishing the Stiff Drink story and tried to aid the Widow with a Hastily Scrawled Note and 50ish chance of success. Not a massive loss, but it stings to lose out on 2000 Jade because I wouldn't wait for a bit.

Started an expedition with 98% chance to succeed on 3 steps a time and enough supplies for two fails.
Failed twice and my rival progressed with every step, so I lost the expedition. Rip 65 echoes and my entire action stock.

Now that really is awful luck. "A sign" is sometimes very elusive. Commiserations from someone who did the Nadir expedition with 99 supplies and ended with just four to spare.

This was a deliberate choice not a mistake. While I don't regret this for RP reasons, for gameplay mechanics reasons I deeply regret
losing the Repentant Forger permanently to the Flint storyline. I paid FATE to Uncover Secrets Framed in Gold and lost the Forger there, and paid FATE again to re-befriend him in New Newgate. For some reason he's still available at New Newgate but I'm not sure I'm up for a third payment of FATE to get him back yet once more... and to think I lost such a useful (and sweetly melancholy) Acquaintance. *sighs*
Edited to add spoiler quotes, just to be safe.

Aaand 9 Notability down the drain, again, from an Unsigned Message. And during elections no less.
My consolation is that since I needed to change my specialisation anyway, I wasn't gonna bother going above N12, and I'll probably have time to get back to that in time (though I might have to use some Scheme since we're almost halfway through already).

I helped a man settle accounts with his daughter... sufficed to say, the outcome left nothing but the taste of ash in my mouth. The survivor has cut all ties to me, and I can’t help but feel that I deserve it, and worse. I never should have gotten involved.

I still hope that Lost Daughter and Rubbery Murders get more love; with a reset option for that who want to. So much potential wasted there!

This isn't a failure exactly, or I guess it is but it's a failure on my part. Anyway, spoiler for the Family and Law and An agent of the cheesemonger stories.
It was during the second part of the Last constable storyline. I always favored the last constable because even though I am hostile toward the regular kind of constable, I was quickly enamored by her sense of justice and integrity. So I rushed trough the preparation for the final confrontation. Steal a few drops of Cantigaster poison? Check. Invite the Cherry Man? Check. Put down a down-payment? Check. Deal with the tankards?
This is where dumbass here made a mistake. Despite the game being quite explicite on that point, I didn't not realize that altering with the tankard would made my ally angry. I read the relevant entries on the wiki later, and the fact that I didn't pick up on it is just one of an uncountable number of proof that I am an idiot. So the Cherry man died and now the Last constable is angry at me. The sad think for me was that my character had just confessed there love to her, and I was not expecting this reaction.
I took a few moment to think about it. It dawn on me that this revealed something I didn't know about my character. They are self-relient and don't trust people easily, and now, even with the best of intention, it had blown up in there face. For them, this was an epiphany. Which is why, later, they trusted Alice to the bitter end and enacted the plan of the cheesemonger...
So even if could go spend fate and start again, I don't think I would.

For a time, I took to Expeditions as my preferred money-grinding method. I grew very used to selling
Parabola-Linen and Silent Souls.
One day, I accidentally sold my Insatiable Glove. It was perhaps the only of my foolish mistakes I actually regret. edited by asinineFlatfoot on 8/28/2019

If you hear me say something that sounds dreary, depressed, or suicidal, please do not worry about me; it's all part of the character. I am in good health.)
From one hand of 6 opportunity cards I drew the Inconvenient Aunt (employed by the Bazaar) three times. All three times I got poisoned instead of energized. Ah, dear Aunt, perhaps a different beverage source...? *sadface*
