Lost around 40 hours of progress when the game crashed while saving. is there any chance that i could recover the data?

Probably not. Note to developers: have Autosave and Autosave.bak or something.
Jesus (can I call you Jesus?), drop me a message with some of the things you had, and I might be able to help give your new captain a head start in life, so as not to make life completely awful.
edit: my mum is in town tomorrow, so there might be a little delay. But we'll get you there.
