I made the very cheapest short story as a trial run, costing me some, I don't know, 7 actions? The story will sell for 2 Echoes. I have no idea about the higher levels.

I know this much: I have two stories now. One is "Competent" and the other is "Compelling". The first took me about 15 actions to complete, and my Potential was, I think, a bit over 20 when I finished. It sells for 10 Echoes. The second took longer (I used up more stuff to raise its Potential to 50, I think, or close to it. It sells for 30 Echoes.

I just made a celebrated (150 potential) short story. It's worth 130 echoes at the bazaar. I had a 60% chance of success at a bit more than 150 potential.

One thing to be careful about with invites: If you have Potential but aren't working on a story, you will be forced to play a storylet that zeroes out your Potential, costing you an action.
This can easily happen (and even multiple times) if you complete a work and still have invitations pending, as your recipients get around to receiving your invite.

I'm open to invites. I've currently maxed my Persuasive (189), so inviters have a good chance of failure (and hence profit!)

You can upgrade your Profession from Journalist to Author on the Connected: Bohemian opportunity card, the Demi-Monde one. It requires a connection score of Bohemian 25 and an Exceptional Story. This makes me wonder if we'll have to construct other elaborate Curiosity items to upgrade the other mid-game Professions.

Maybe it's an oversight and rare successes/some other method are the intended path of progress, but for now, that's how it worked!

The social actions option has been turned off!
Learn from the best! You should preferably invite someone much more Persuasive than you are. However, the postal system prevents its use just now.
I think I might leave this storyline alone for a bit until FB have ironed out the bugs. It's painfully slow to proceed in the lower levels if you can't do the social actions.

It's probably because there was something more than normally buggy about the social action. I sent one to someone with a much lower Persuasive than me, and got +12 Potential from it, while they got +3. Makes me rather wish that I'd done that more than once.

Haha! I popped in to mention this, but you chaps are ahead of me.
(i) there is a related bug with social actions that we're ironing out for a release this morning. (Increase from social actions is in fact capped, but the cap doesn't always fire).
(ii) this is a prototype for a much larger system. You can expect to see things flicker in and out of reality over the next couple of months. There is more related content coming; and the rewards from success are pretty substantial, so we will tune.
(iii) it'll be much easier to reach Classic status with later content and higher caps.
You may have noticed a pattern: Watchful and Shadowy have had some experimental systems, and now it's Persuasive's turn.
