So here I am, having to choose between aiding the Duchess or the Widow in the "Searching for a Stiff Drink" story-line. I was either not paying much attention or just forgot how I got there. Why were they fighting over the brandy again?

Let's just say that a brandy like that is good for your health and longevity, and that's why the Widow smuggles it in, and that's why the Duchess wants to steal it.

If you're referring to what I think you're referring to, then it's a shame there's not a Shadowy option to betray both and take the stuff for yourself. :P

Those two characters... I don't think there's any way in the Neath to get anything past one without the protection of the other, or someone equally weighty among Fallen London's powerful. Those two are maxed-stats, fully-equipped masters of their domain.
